Lord Robert Crause Baden-Powell

Wednesday 08 January 2020

Following the passing away of Lord Robert Crause Baden-Powell in December, the Club has issued this statement:

Sabina Voysey, The Camping and Caravanning Club’s Director General, said: “We were saddened to hear of the loss of Lord Robert Crause Baden-Powell, who was our President from 1992 to 2002. He was proud to have followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, who founded the Scouts, and was involved with a range of Club events during his ten years as President.

“Importantly he shared our sentiment that camping, in all its different forms, has brought a great deal of pleasure to thousands of people by giving them the chance to explore and enjoy the great outdoors, both at home and abroad.”

The Camping and Caravanning Club’s past Presidents have included Captain Robert Scott of the Antarctic (1909-1911), Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouts (1919-1940), and Professor David Bellamy (2002 until 2013). Today, the Club’s President is Julia Bradbury who took up the appointment in 2013.
