Wales Tour – St David’s to Brecon Priory Mill

Wales overview

Tour duration: 4 days, 5 nights
Total length of tour: 130 miles
Total cycling time: 17 hours 30 minutes

This cycling tour will allow you to get to the real heart of Wales, travelling along coastal roads, rolling countryside and deep into ancient forests. The tour also takes in two of Wales’ most famous National Parks - Pembrokeshire Coast and the Brecon Beacons.

Your tour will begin on the west coast in St David’s campsite, in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. There are lots of beautiful beaches near this campsite and the area is also a paradise for walkers. If you wanted to spend a couple of days here before you begin your tour there is plenty to do – a bus picks up campers from outside the campsite entrance and travels up the coast, while whale and dolphin spotting trips are also available from nearby St Justinian.

When you are ready to begin your tour, the first day will take you on a steady cycle of just over three hours up through the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to Newport Conifers. Newport Conifers is a peaceful campsite, accepting just ten tents – so make sure you book in advance!

After a restful night’s sleep, you can begin day 2 of your tour. You will continue to travel North through the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, enjoying some beautiful scenery on the way. After a 33-mile cycle ride you will reach our lovely Cardigan Bay campsite nestled in the beautiful coves of west Wales. This is a great site for nature lovers, where red kites can be spotted from the campsite and dolphins are often playing in the sea in the bay nearby.
The third day of your tour is the longest – with 40 miles of cycling to do. It is worth the effort though as you will be travelling inland through some of the most beautiful countryside Wales has to offer. At the end of the day you will reach our Rhandirmwyn campsite – a pretty campsite set in an old lead-mining area in the Towy Valley.

The final day of your cycling tour across Wales will see you head into the Brecon Beacons to our Brecon Priory Mill campsite. This is another Certificated Site accepting only 10 tents, so again make sure you book up early! The Brecon Beacons are a lovely area to explore, so you may want to spend a couple of extra night’s here seeing the area.
