Overview
Church Holme in Danby Wiske is a small family run green field camp site. The site has been a dream of the Cotter family that has been brought to life with thoughtful touches to ensure visitors have space and relaxation surrounded by nature. There is a local barn owl to look out for at dusk, and plenty of cows, sheep and horses. Danby Wiske is a small village with a local pub, and grade 1 listed church dating back to 1069 offering a stunning back drop to the site. The site is perfectly situated in the Vale of Mowbray near the market town of Northallerton, nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, allowing access to all the area has to offer. The site is set in 2 acres in 3 separate fields, and a further 5 acres housing the friendly sheep. The power showers in a converted stable are a treat, and there is a camp kitchen for wet days. Plenty of walks and cycling routes are on the door step including the Coast to Coast national trail that passes by the site, bringing people from all around the world to the onsite honesty tuck shop.
This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents*, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
*Tents are not permitted on the majority of CS sites in Scotland
