Overview

A great campsite to explore Canterbury, with a bus stop outside the site entrance.

City, coast and countryside – you can take your pick if you’re basing yourself at our Canterbury Club campsite. Although a popular stopover for those travelling to or from France, this campsite offers the ideal base for exploring Kent’s coast and country.

The campsite lies a couple of miles south of the city – within walking distance. The not so energetic can catch a bus from outside the campsite. The well laid out campsite offers a mix of level grass and hardstand pitches. There are newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities, a washing up area, children’s play area and good dog walking.

Off site Canterbury is a city packed with history, heritage and culture. It has a stunning cathedral and the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church and castle. It also has an eclectic mix of specialist shops, independent retailers, bars and restaurants.

Head to the coast for Whitstable with its trendy harbour and July Oyster Festival. The more traditional Herne-Bay has two miles of seafront adorned with colourful beach huts and a pier. The quaint Victorian town of Broadstairs with its Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides is a contrast to the more cosmopolitan habour side Ramsgate noted for its pavement cafes and waterside bars.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Stayed for a few days in November and what a very pleasant site it is. The Wardens were very polite and helpful. The site is within easy walking distance from Canterbury which has excellent shopping and visitor attractions. However our only gripe was the size of the pitches and proximity of adjacent vehicles. The hardstanding is only 4M wide with a grass verge of 4M either side of the hardstanding. We were in a Motorhome and either side of us were caravans with awnings AND cars parked on the grass adjacent to us. The grass verge we understood is supposed to be a firebreak. However, there were only 3M between our van and the parked cars on both sides of us, in fact if we had chosen to put our awning out we would have been almost touching one of the parked cars. We have experienced this on other C&CC sites and feel this is unacceptable encroachment, particularly as there is a huge carpark on this site. Also, the weather was very wet the grass has now been turned into a quagmire where the cars were parked. It's such a shame the club allows this.

This was our first trip out in our new caravan, we were nervous towing for the first time but the site is very easy to get to and the lane and entrance wide enough for first timers. Our hardstanding pitch was easy to reverse on to and set up on for the first time and we enjoyed testing the van out, we also were close to the facilities which are warm and clean and the kids enjoyed using. The showers were nice and warm and clean. There are many local attractions to see and we took a few hours out to go to the spitfire museum which has a lovely cafe and free museum. We will definitely be coming back to go visit more attractions.

Two nights break on our way to Scotland from Italy, and so pleased we did. Wardens were perfect, pitch was lovely. Site very well maintained and quiet, despite being busy. One of the best sites we've used. Buses into town every 20 mins. Information leaflet was detailed and very useful. We'll be back!
