Overview
Deep in the New Forest, the campsite is bordered by the shallow Blackwater stream and Ober water. There is no shop on the campsite but the picturesque Brokenhurst, a small town just 2 miles away, has a mini supermarket, gas and camping supply shop and several little cafés. Official, marked cycle paths pass close to the campsite and make an ideal way to see the forest, though ponies and horses can be rented from local stables for those who prefer horseback. There are a host of attractions nearby to keep children and adults entertained including the Longdown Activity Farm, the New Forest Reptile Centre and the National Motor Museum, there is also the rare plant collection at Furzey Gardens and the New Forest Wildlife Park, for those who haven’t seen enough local wildlife around the campsite. If you are looking for a back-to-basics camping experience, surrounded by the best that nature can offer, this is the campsite for you.
Note: Please be aware that there are no toilets or showers, no electricity and no hardstandings available on this site. Own chemical toilet essential.
Any barbeques used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbeques for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites no barbeques of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.
Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies
