Autumn in Britain is atmospheric. The countryside comes to life in an impressive burst of colour as leaves tumble from the trees. 1. Journey into the forest

Our Delamere Forest Club Site in Cheshire is on the doorstep of the enchanting Delamere Forest. Venture through 2,400 acres of woodland, marvelling at the fabulous foliage as it changes colour before your eyes, and admire an abundance of wildlife such as bats, badgers, tawny owls, woodpeckers and more.

2. Geocaching

An action-packed, autumn camping activity for ALL that’s not to be missed, geocaching is a global phenomenon, especially among the camping community. Sign up to one of many geocaching websites and armed with a GPS navigation receiver, track hidden items or containers stashed with fascinating finds, across various locations.

Our Rhandirmwyn Club Site puts you right where the action is. On the border of Brecon Beacons National Park, this Club Site gives you access to 180 geocaching hotspots. Happy hunting!

3. Howling Halloween

Experience spooky goings on as many of our Club Sites set up for some creepy camping adventures. Frighteningly good fun for all ages, enjoy eerie stories by moonlight, spine-tingling tours and plenty of pumpkin carving.

4. Colossal castles

To the north, to the south, to the east and to the west, Britain is crammed with castles steeped in history. At the height of autumn, the country’s castles form a stunning backdrop as the foliage falls.

From the beauty of Balmoral Castle in Scotland, close to our Tarland by Deeside Club Site, to the haunting history of Muncaster Castle, five minutes from our Ravenglass Club Site, Britain’s bewitching bastions host a number of events during the autumn months.

With 4 of the 11 International Dark Sky Reserves in the world based in the UK, access the country’s premier star-gazing facilities from our Brecon Beacons, Exmoor, Snowdonia and South Downs National Park Club Sites.

6. Wondrous walking routes

We’ve teamed up with ViewRanger to bring you the best walking routes close to our Club Sites. Trek across tremendous terrain experiencing the glory of autumn, with walks for all abilities. From simple strolls to heart-pumping hikes, bask in the beauty of the autumnal British countryside, and pop in for a pit stop at taverns along the way, where you can sample some of the finest local ales and delicious pub grub.

7. Maritime museums

Britain’s maritime museum scene is bursting with naval history and many of these hotspots are within an hour’s drive of our Club Sites. Fun for all the family, the UK’s proud nautical heritage connects generations. Add a maritime museum visit to your autumn camping activity bucket list and set sail.

8. Cycling tours

For the die-hard cyclist, we've created five, fearsome tours running the length and breadth of Britain. With routes spanning 100 – 150 miles, lasting 4-5 days, these routes are a true test of your pedalling power. An amazing autumn camping activity, take to the saddle and conquer the ultimate cycling challenge.

9. Horse riding

Imagine discovering Britain’s wide open spaces, rolling hills and wild moors on horseback, just like days of old. 13. Waterfalls

There’s something magical about waterfalls in the autumn season. Witness the wonder of Britain’s spectacular waterfalls in all their glory as they plunge into gargantuan gorges and rush down steep hillsides. Our Alton, the Star Club Site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers, while the Drayton Manor Club Site is within reach of the nearby zoo and theme park. Britain is home to approximately 2,500 museums and galleries. If you’re in need of a cultural fix this autumn, our Club Sites put you within easy reach of some of the country’s finest museums and galleries. A great rainy day activity for all the family, immerse yourself in historical artefacts and fine art from around the globe.

19. Zoos and safaris

With several zoos and safari experiences to enjoy throughout Britain, it’s an ‘animal-tastic’ autumn activity to enjoy while camping with us. Exmoor in particular is a hotspot for animal lovers. The region’s zoo is open 362 days a year, with plenty of shows and events taking place, while Exmoor National Park operates wildlife safaris.

20. Railways

Britain has a rich steam and cliff railway heritage. With several steam trains still in operation, tour the countryside at the height of autumn and savour the spectacular scenery. Aboard the country’s cliff-side railways, ascend to summits that reveal the beauty of the British landscape as far as the eye can see.

21. Coasteering

Coasteering is a craze that has become incredibly popular and is an exhilarating way to kick off any autumnal camping holiday. 22. Caves

Carved into cliff sides across Britain, caving is an adventure for all to enjoy. Venture underground this autumn and discover mind-blowing caverns and colossal chambers that have existed for millions of years. The Yorkshire Dales has more than 2,500 to explore, which are accessible from our Barnard Castle Club Site.

23. Gruffalo trails

26 of England’s woodlands have a Gruffalo trail. Find mouse, fox, snake, owl and of course the Gruffalo from one of our Club Sites close to these terrific trails. Following the release of the Gruffalo Spotter app, special markers on each of the trails bring the beloved story’s characters to life. ‘Oh no…it’s a Gruffalo.’

24. Clay pigeon shooting

Popular on the camping scene, clay pigeon shooting is a classic autumn activity that’s enjoyed in abundance across Britain. Our Bala Club Site, on the border of Snowdonia National Park, is in close proximity to Lake Vyrnwy, which boasts an excellent clay pigeon shooting facility.

25. Play in the leaves

An activity to enjoy on any of our Club Sites in autumn or one of the many forests in close proximity. Whack on the wellies and take the young ones out to explore. Gather up different types of leaves and take them back to the tent and enjoying leaf rubbing, an arts and crafts activity the kids will enjoy.

26. Treetop adventures

A number of our Club Sites are close to Go Ape facilities, where families can enjoy treetop adventures, tackling tricky rope obstacle courses. Enjoy all the colours of the woodland at the height of the splendid autumn season.

27. Country parks

No autumn camping adventure is complete without a trip to one of Britain’s charming country parks. What better way to admire the autumn season? Connect with nature and watch as the beauty of the season unravels itself before your eyes, creating some picture perfect moments that you will want to capture. Don’t forget your camera.

Golfing fairways in autumn are a sight to behold. Among the trees, tee off at some of the most iconic golf courses in the world, enjoying the scintillating scenery for good measure. With fewer crowds and off-season pricing at a number of premier golf clubs, autumn is the season to enjoy a round of golf and gorgeous surroundings.
