Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

If you'd like to go glamping then Chipping Norton Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

Some pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities. This site has no Motorhome Service Area.

This site is a lovely little site for caravans and camper vans but not good for tents as we broken every peg we own and had to go out to buy rock pegs, which should be recommended on the website due to how hard the ground is. Another local camper even said he had bent a rock peg. It took us over three hours to peg our medium tent which normally takes approximately 20 minutes. I doubt we would stay here again.

Typically for a Club site, it was immaculately clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. My big complaint is that some pitches are very close (less than 10m ) from the main A361. The sites Book and the website describe this site as being tucked away off the beaten track and providing 'spades' of peace and tranquility. This is definitely not the case for those unfortunate enough to be sited along the main road as we found out for ourselves.

There is a bus stop right outside the gate so getting around will be fine as it is a bit out the way unless you have a car or bike. On arrival I opened my side hatch and my puncture repair foam fell out and went everywhere! The chap checking us in was so helpful and told me to leave it he will sort it, felt terrible but so grateful. The place really is immaculate showers and toilets are fantastic. The reception also sells some basic bits which is great. Chipping Norton is great to wander around, nice pubs restaurants etc and only a 6/7 minuets bus ride away. We would go back no problem.

The site was well maintained and the staff very welcoming however it is quite small and the space per unit is probably the tightest we've experienced on a club site. When we arrived the staff commented that our trailer tent was 5m x 4m (includes the awning) so they'd try a couple of pitches to see if there was enough space. We are well within the standard pitch size and have never had to worry about this before. There was a bit of pacing required to make sure we were far enough away from our neighbours. The site had a lovely laid back feeling and we enjoyed a restful four nights despite the traffic noise from the A361 (thankfully not too busy from about 22:00 - 06:00 but very loud during the day). The toilet and shower block was immaculate, some of the best showers we've ever come across. Overall, a good base to explore the surrounding area (which is lovely) but not really somewhere to expect to sit around during the day and enjoy peace and quiet.
