Pitch in a lovely clearing in the forests of Northumberland in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and European Geopark.

Haltwhistle Club campsite’s setting in a clearing in Bellister Wood makes it the ideal get-away-from-it-all camping destination. The wood, once part of the Bellister Castle Estate, is now managed by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife and you could find yourself sharing your pitch with rabbits and birds, including woodpeckers.

This 45 pitch site between the Northumberland National Park and North Pennines is surrounded by magnificent walking and cycling country. The Haltwhistle Rings – a series of 22 local walks is one way to take in the local scenery along with Hadrian’s Wall, five miles from the campsite, offers picturesque walking opportunities.

Back at Haltwhistle campsite, the adjacent River Tyne provides fishing for those with the appropriate rod licence.

After a day cycling or walking or enjoying some of the area’s many attractions our secluded campsite among the trees is a peaceful oasis to relax and unwind. The modern facilities include showers and toilets, a laundry and washing up area.

Wonderful site. Quiet, clean facilities. Helpful and friendly wardens. Shops nearby in town of HALTWHISTLE. So many public footpaths for all abilities. Brilliant for dogs. River just at edge of site. Must see is kielder water and forest and many different parts of hadrians wall. Planning our next trip here already.

We have just spent 3 nights at this lovely site, Frank and Roma were so lovely and helpful, great walking area and great visits to Hadrians wall, there are 2 sites that allow dogs and staff very helpful. Sainsburys in haltwhistle only 3and a half miles away. This is small site and definitely felt more friendly because of this. Showers were hot and whole site was clean and very well cared for. No play area and this was a plus for us. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

Set within the National Trust Park on the edge of the River, this is a quiet secluded and sheltered site, though there are warnings of flooding potential. Site staff are friendly and helpful as always. Access to the site is via a narrow single lane access road at a 12% gradient down into the site, if towing a caravan you need to ensure no one is accessing the site as you leave. The site is within easy reach of the many Hadrians wall features. Set within the NT area there are woodland paths along the river and through the estate, although not fully signposted, so an OS map would be required for the more adventurous, the paths are grass trails so sturdy shoes/boots are recommended. Site services include a refurbished toilet/laundry/wash up area, adjacent to the site office/entrance, the chemical toilet point is also located close to the entrance, grey water disposal and water points (2no) are practically at the other end of the site. The site office is also a small shop and provides some amenities although the town centre is within easy reach approx 3 miles Club WiFi is available although we did not use it and mobile reception is good. The site was busy during the week. Haltwhistle itself claims to be the centre of G.B. and has a plaques in the town centre to describe this, there are also a few shops and a small Sainsburys store.

Have just spent 5 nights at this site which was a lovely and quiet site with a great dawn chorus from the birds. Great for dogs as there are dog walks along the river. It is a small site which was great for meeting people. Janet Barow the Site Assistant was great, she gave us some local information as to where to go to visit Hadrians Wall that are quieter. Would recommend this site any day.
