Pitch in a lovely clearing in the forests of Northumberland in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and European Geopark.

Haltwhistle Club campsite’s setting in a clearing in Bellister Wood makes it the ideal get-away-from-it-all camping destination. The wood, once part of the Bellister Castle Estate, is now managed by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife and you could find yourself sharing your pitch with rabbits and birds, including woodpeckers.

This 45 pitch site between the Northumberland National Park and North Pennines is surrounded by magnificent walking and cycling country. The Haltwhistle Rings – a series of 22 local walks is one way to take in the local scenery along with Hadrian’s Wall, five miles from the campsite, offers picturesque walking opportunities.

Back at Haltwhistle campsite, the adjacent River Tyne provides fishing for those with the appropriate rod licence.

After a day cycling or walking or enjoying some of the area’s many attractions our secluded campsite among the trees is a peaceful oasis to relax and unwind. The modern facilities include showers and toilets, a laundry and washing up area.

Beautiful site set in the trees but not under them. River was perfect for my 2 daughters (8&11) to go paddling in. The shower etc facilities were spot on. Kids wanted a shower every day!! Very close to Hadrians wall and a beautiful village of hexham. Definitely recommend coming here

Lovely location but holiday was marred by one member of staff who was miserable and unhelpful from the moment we arrived. She even walked around our caravan on our final day to check we were packing up even though we had two hours left before leaving. Speaking to other people on site they all had the same issues with the same warden. Some complained that they were not allowed to arrive early but while we were there the same person let others on site early. While we were on site a lovely family from Germany arrived at ten past eight and the same warden just ignored them and they had issues checking in as she said she was off duty. Not the right person to welcome you. Other members of our party were told not to hang wet towels on fence even though their tent had a rip in it and they had to clear the water out after a night of rain. Consider going elsewhere if you have young children as no play facilities.

My first visit to this lovely little site, after nervously driving in, I explained usually my hubby tows but was stuck at work and I rarely tow and struggle to reverse caravan. The wardens where fantastic and patiently directed me onto my pitch. The river flows along the side of the site, with lovely dog walks on site by the river. Like all club sites Facilities are spotless. Thank you for a lovely stay, Will be back soon.
