Overview
An ideal site from which to tour Lancashire and the Northwest, situated just 10 miles from Manchester. Heywood is a small busy town; in its centre is the magnificent St Luke’s church. 2 miles away and you can be on the Manchester - Leeds canal which you can stroll or cycle beside, admiring the beautiful views.
Heywood Heritage railway station is just a short walk away where it is possible to jump onto an historic carriage pulled by a steam engine through to the towns of Bury, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall, as well as several other stops along the way.
Bury is famous for its market where you will find “possibly the best Black Puddings in the world.” Other places of interest are Rochdale Town Hall (used as a location for the drama “Peaky Blinders”) and Bolton Steam Museum. Ashworth Valley and Healey Dell nature reserves are popular with walkers.
Janet is a mine of information for things like bus routes and places of interest and will be delighted to assist in any guest camper queries.
Park Facilities include open 365 days a year - 5 caravan pitches with electric hook ups, shower, toilet, chemical disposal, hand basin, pet friendly, room for tents.
This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents*, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
*Tents are not permitted on the majority of CS sites in Scotland
