Ayrshire is renowned for its beautiful countryside and coastline, fantastic walking, stunning beaches and interesting places to visit. Ayr itself is a lovely coastal town with pretty pastel-coloured buildings, a charming sea front and a long sandy beach - perfect for a leisurely stroll.
Nearby, the Burns Heritage Park in Alloway is well worth a detour. Here you can visit the birthplace of Robert Burns - the famous Scottish poet, see a collection of his works and discover the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work. Or if you fancy a flutter, head out to Ayr Racecourse, which hosts many Flat and National Hunt meetings throughout the year.
Hop on a wildlife-spotting cruise or boat trip to explore the coast of Ayrshire and the isle of Arran, where you might spot seals, dolphins, peregrine falcons and even golden eagles. This beautiful region is home to a number of nature reserves including Ayr Gorge, Glenbuck Loch and Catrine Voes, where there's a good chance of sighting otters, kingfishers, great spotted woodpeckers and even ospreys.
