    Top site for walking

Located on the River Ure, this campsite is a great spot for walking or visiting nearby York.

Our pretty Boroughbridge Club campsite in north Yorkshire, just off the A1, is a great stop over site for those traveling up or down the country. Equally, its location close the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks makes it a good base for those wanting to explore Yorkshire’s many attractions.

Bordering the campsite and visible from site is the River Ure. The campsite benefits from recently refurbished facilities, it also has a well-stocked shop and a large area for ball games.

There are a number of walking opportunities nearby. The old town of Boroughbridge is within walking distance. There are a few circular walks from the site, or you can enjoy a stroll along the river from Roecliffe to Ripon.

The delightful Harrogate – great for shopping and Betty’s Tearoom – and the city of York – with its famous minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre – are a drive away while Fountains Abbey, Studley Royall and Newby Hall make interesting days out.

Self-catering accommodation is available at this site. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the self-catering properties).

Available to buy are stunning holiday caravans and lodges. Visit the Club Holiday Homes website to find out more or call 02477 983801.

Worth Noting

This site floods – restrictions on awnings and availability of pitches. Some all-weather all service pitches are available. Cars must remain on site overnight, please seek advice from the Holiday Site Manager. No boat launching from site. Noise can be heard from the local dairy and from the A1.

We were met with a very warm welcome from very friendly staff.

This review is for Boroughbridge

We were met with a very warm welcome from very friendly staff. The facilities were clean and well organised and the site is well placed for visiting the local area. We booked a full service pitch and were pleased to be shown to a spacious and well laid out plot, very close to the excellent facility block and games room. The downside however, was that this was only a few meters from the site entrance and a busy main road. The main traffic on this road were lorries servicing the industrial estate opposite that seemed to be in operation 24 hours a day. Lorries would rumble past, physically shaking the ground and van along with it. It was possible for my children to sit in the front of our van and wave to the lorry drivers as they pulled out of the estate back onto the road. The full service pitches and facility block were separated from the rest of the site by a 2m+ high flood bank - I cannot comment on how the rest of the site was affected by the noise generated by the industrial estate but noise from the nearby A1 was clearly audible all across the site. In summary, this is a lovely site but let down by the constant disturbance created by the heavy vehicles passing by. The site description mentions the noise but it is worse than we expected. I would not recommend this site for anything other than a short stop over.

We booked 4 nights here but only stayed 1 as the noise from the A1 and dairy were too much for us to feel relaxed. The noise went on all night and day and spoilt an otherwise good site in a good location. We also found the ground very wet, which you might expect in February, but the lack of tarmac road on one side of the site meant our daughter couldnt even ride her new bike. The newly sited playground was in the middle of a field away from the caravan pitches too which might suit older caravan site users but not families. The staff were very friendly and accommodating but Im afraid this is the only CCC site so far we wouldnt recommend.

Just had 3 really nice days in our camper at this lovely site. I've never done a C&CC review before but after reading some less than complementary reviews, I felt that I had to redress things by telling it as we found it! There is a bit of road noise from the A1, but its so distant it's not an issue. And the noise from the factory is just a bit of a hum. Not even worth a mention! Now the positives. It's a well run site with extremely friendly and informative staff. The facilities are first class, and the toilet block is immaculate. The spacing between pitches is huge, which makes a nice change from other sites we have stayed at (mainly non C&CC). If you are lucky enough to get a pitch by the river you might be rewarded with visits from herons, kingfishers, long-tailed tits, moorhens and buzzards amongst others. 20 minutes walk away Boroughbridge is an absolute gem of a place. Independent shops, and lovely houses along with a vast choice of pubs and cafes, all different in their own way. There are lots more places nearby to visit too like Harrogate, Knaresborough, Helmsley, Ampleforth Abbey and Ripon included. I would definitely come back here again, it's got so much going for it.

“What a lovely site this is. Stayed over a weekend in June for the first time with our 2 boys 11 and 8 and will be back again, one of the best c&cc sites we have been to. The site has a small play area for the kids and an area on 'the paddock' for ball games etc. Lovely peaceful site by the river (no direct access though) with regular visits from the ducks. Fish and Chip van visits the site on a tues, thurs and sat evening between 430 and 515 although we didnt get the opportunity to try this time. Boroughbridge is a short drive away or accessible on foot with directions available from reception, we had a lovely sunday lunch at the three horse shoes which was not over priced. Site also ideally located for visiting York and Harrogate. Looking forward to our next visit keep up the good work and thanks for a lovely weekend.”
