Overview
Nestled in a secluded, peaceful field surrounded by acres of farmed fields lies the East Shilvinghampton campsite set on a traditional Dorset farm that has been owned by the Bartletts since 1938. 4th generation Martin Bartlett and his family are now running the farm with the addition of Shilvington Escapes and rearing Shilvington beef. Visitors to this attractive lawned site will be able to wake up to stunning views & the sound of birdsong. Set on a working farm campers can take full advantage of their proximity to the home-bred farm produce – take a wander up the high-banked drive to the farmhouse front door to purchase home-reared pork (sausages), beef (steak, burgers, mince) and delicious cakes & quiches. This area of Dorset is rich in wildlife, offers fantastic walking opportunities on the extensive off road pathways and is only a few miles from the famous Jurassic Coast and Chesil Fleet. Both sea and sun are within grasp at nearby Weymouth beach which has one of the sunniest climates in the UK. In addition the area offers beautiful beaches, excellent gastropubs (Portesham, Abbotsbury, Langton Herring) and enough museums & outdoor attractions to keep you amused should you wish to stray
This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents*, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
*Tents are not permitted on the majority of CS sites in Scotland
