Eilean Donan Island and Castle is definitely one of Scotland’s most picturesque attractions. The castle can be found in the Western Highlands of Scotland about an equal distance between Fort William and Inverness.

Eilean Donan was one of two castles which provided inspiration in the Disney and Pixar film, Brave. Fans will clearly see the similarities in both the landscape and structure of the magical building.

The castle has gone through many variations from the earliest fortifications of the 13th Century to its destruction in 1719 and its reconstruction during the 20th Century. There are many myths and local tales of seal-maidens and mermaids visiting the waters around the castle.
