The Club is delighted to announce that all campsites on its Club and Camping in the Forest network in England are ready to reopen for the new camping season from 12 April, at the earliest allowed date.
The campsites may open without toilet and shower blocks in the first instance – at time of going to print we were still waiting for government guidance on this.
On 17 May, again at the earliest date, all campsites with shower blocks plan to open those facilities, at which point Ready Camp tents, pods and other self-catering offerings on Club Sites will also become available.
This good news follows the Prime Minister’s announcement, on 22 February, of a roadmap to unlock England from Covid restrictions. At the time of writing there are different potential dates for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which we are closely monitoring, and we ask members to check our website for the latest information.
In the short term, campsites opening without toilet and shower blocks will still provide electric hook-ups, access to fresh water and a place to dispose of toilet waste, but campers will need to be self-sufficient.
Many of the measures the Club had in place last July when sites reopened after the first lockdown will also remain in place, such as contactless check-in on site, where the balance of your payment is taken automatically from your account on the morning of your arrival, an enhanced cleaning schedule of site facilities, and more.
We’ll be opening up laundry facilities and play areas this season. The Club’s Director General Sabina Voysey said: “We’re delighted to hopefully be able to open our full campsite networks again. It feels like this is light at the end of what has been a long tunnel, and we’re crossing our fingers that we’re able to welcome members back to enjoy a year of freedom and discovery.”
