The latest on our Club Site network

We are monitoring the latest updates from across the 4 nations and are planning to open our full site network as soon as we are able. In some nations, we will be opening without facility blocks and communal areas at the start of the season.

As we start to get back out camping again we want our campers and staff to feel safe. The Club will only open facility blocks when we are able to do so fully with both toilets and showers, and in accordance with government guidance. For example, in England campsites may open public toilets but are only permitted to open shower facilities by assigning them to one household group or support bubble at a time or running a reservation process with the facilities being cleaned in between each usage. We pride ourselves on providing safe and welcoming campsites, and given our Club Sites operate shared facility blocks, we have taken a cautious approach and chosen to keep them closed until such time they can open fully.

Where facility blocks are closed we’re advising that campers need to have self-contained facilities. This decision has been widely communicated via our website, magazine and emails to highlight our plans well in advance, allowing campers to make alternative arrangements where necessary. We understand some members will be disappointed by this and we will continue to monitor the situation, responding promptly as Government restrictions are lifted. We hope that many of our campers with their own facilities will still be able to enjoy a stay with us, we’ll be accepting campers with proper chemical toilets that can be disposed of via waste disposal points, and a toilet tent can be put up on your pitch.

We ask that all campers follow the latest guidance on travel, staying in individual household bubbles and numbers allowed to mix.

England: Our campsites are open

• We have initially opened our campsites without facility blocks.
• If you have a booking between now and 16 May you must be a self-sufficient camper with your own facilities.
• Our toilets, showers and communal areas such as laundries and dishwash areas will be opened on 17 May as part of step 3 from the government's roadmap.

Wales: Our campsites are open

• We have initially opened our campsites without facility blocks.
• If you have a booking between now and 16 May you must be a self-sufficient camper with your own facilities
• We are hoping to open our toilets, showers and communal areas such as laundries and dishwash areas on 17 May. When there is further clarity on facility block opening dates we will update our advice accordingly.

Scotland: Our campsites are open

• We have opened our campsites with facility blocks, with official measures in place, and we will update our advice if required subject to any changes or updates to government guidance.

Northern Ireland: Our campsite is open

• We have opened our campsite without facility blocks.
• If you have a booking between the 30 April – 23 May you must be a self-sufficient camper with your own facilities.
• Our toilets, showers and communal areas such as laundries and dishwash areas will be opened on 24 May as part of the government's roadmap.

Across all Nations: Our Ready Camp Safari Tents, Pods and Selected Self Catering Accommodation will not open until the 17 May at the earliest. Selected Club Sites including Ashbourne, Cheddar and Teversal have opened their self-contained self-catering accommodation from the 12 April.

Please note, all dates are still subject to official confirmation.

If you have a booking affected by our later opening this season, national travel restrictions or closure of facility blocks, our team will be in touch via email to go through your options, or our Service Centre is available on 024 7647 5426.

What additional measures are in place?

In line with government advice and our members feedback, we will continue with the successful measures we had in place last season:

  • Contactless check in – this will be facilitated by Auto Balance Collect. The balance of any money due for your stay will be taken automatically from your account on the morning of your arrival. This means we’ll ask for your vehicle registration details when you book. When you arrive on site, you can remain inside your vehicle and a member of our site staff will welcome you and show you to your allocated pitch.
  • Sensible social distancing – our campsites are spacious and our pitches have six-metre spacing between them.
  • We’re only allowing individual bookings and with well-managed sites we can prevent large groups assembling.
  • When on site we’ll be asking campers to follow latest government guidance on social distancing, group size, numbers allowed to meet/socialise and bubbles.
  • For health and safety reasons, campers are not allowed to have day visitors onto their pitches – please meet family and friends off-site so we can limit the number of people on our campsites.
  • There will be signs as a common sense reminder to keep two metres from other people.
  • Facility blocks will have deep cleans plus supplementary cleans each day and guidance on how many people the block can accommodate at one time will be displayed.
  • We will be asking campers to wear a face covering whilst in the facility blocks, where possible.
  • On campsites with facility blocks, we’d ask that if you are able to use your own facilities in your unit, you do so as much as possible – this will help us manage demand and queuing. Campers will also be able to pitch their own toilet tent on their allocated pitch.
  • There will be additional cleaning measures in place across our campsites including high contact areas.
  • Our play areas will remain open, and we'll open up communal areas such as laundries and dish wash areas, subject to official guidance
  • To reduce areas of contact, our reception areas and shops will remain closed, at least at the start of the season. Please make sure you bring all your essentials with you.
  • Service points will be open – please follow hand washing guidance; whilst we will have this available on sites, we’d ask campers to also bring with them their own supplies of soap and hand sanitiser.
  • We will be asking campers to ‘check in’ on our sites with the NHS Test and Trace app.

Certificated Sites

If you have any questions about facilities or additional measures on these campsites, please contact them directly. Please note Certificated Sites are subject to the same lockdown regulations and restrictions as Club Sites (see ‘What is open on the Club Site network’ above).

Your membership

After our long period of closure in 2020 and the uncertainty as we head into 2021, it will come as no surprise that the Club needs its members now more than ever. The draw of our countryside and its beautiful open spaces are now stronger than ever. The Club welcomes you back and celebrates this moment with you. It has only been possible with your support.

You’ll continue to find value in your membership far beyond our campsites, with great content in our regular magazine, promotions, competitions, helpful advice and plenty of online inspiration.

Fun, freedom, relaxation – whatever your reason for camping with The Camping and Caravanning Club, we can’t wait to help make your next getaway even more special. With a large network of Club Sites to choose from, plus 1,300 idyllic Certificated Sites, we’re sure to have a destination to suit you. As a member, you’ll enjoy up to 30% off Club Site pitch night fees, plus additional member-exclusive discounts throughout the year. Members can book our Club Sites 15 months in advance, so you can get your next break sorted.

Extending your membership

It was really important that we supported our members through the April-June lockdown period in 2020, aware that they were unable to camp over the main season. As such the Club took the decision to add a three month extension to those who renewed, joined and stayed with the Club.

As the country recovers, we’re unsure what 2021 will bring but we’re looking forward to welcoming campers back - there are no further plans for additional membership extensions.

If you joined the Club or renewed your membership prior to July 4th 2020 and paid for your membership you’ll be eligible for the extension.

Because our membership system has to work in advance to process renewals, we are able to apply the renewal extension automatically from October.

If you’ve joined the Club or already renewed your membership

If you joined the Club or renewed your membership prior to our campsites re-opening on the 4th July:

  • Your 3-month extension will automatically be applied at the end of your current membership term.
  • Your next renewal notification will come 3 months later than it normally would, when the extension has finished.
  • This will then become your new renewal date going forward. See renewal dates table below.

If your renewal was due between 4th July and 30th September 2020

Because our membership system has to work in advance to process renewals, if your renewal date was between 4th July and 30th September your renewal date didn't change this year and you would have had to renew your membership in the normal way this time.

  • Your 3-month extension will be automatically applied at the end of this membership term. See renewal dates table below.

If you’re due to renew on or after 1st October 2020

  • We will be adding 3 months to the end of your current membership subscription.
  • Your 3-month extension will automatically be applied at the end of your current membership term.
  • Your next renewal notification will come 3 months later than it normally would, when the extension has finished.
  • This will then become your new renewal date going forward. See renewal dates table below.

Payment

If you pay by Direct Debit, there is no action for you to take, we’ll update our Direct Debit system and your payment date will be moved automatically. If you pay by any other method, you can continue to do so (or change to Direct Debit) in the usual way when you receive your next renewal letter.

Membership Cards

We won’t be issuing new membership cards for the 3 months extension period. However, we will issue you with confirmation of your membership extension at the point your renewal would have been due. Although the card will look out of date for the period of your 3-month extension, there’s no need to worry. You’ll still be able to access everything, and our systems will reflect the change of date so our Club staff will know about your extension. Should you wish to stay on a Certificated Site, Meet or Temporary Holiday Site, your confirmation will prove validity of your membership. Your new cards will arrive at the end of the extension period.

Overseas travel

With the uncertainty around Worldwide and European travel both now and for the foreseeable future, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our escorted tour and summer and winter rally programmes for 2020/21 (campsite bookings can still be made directly with the campsites). Please keep your eye on the Club website and magazine for further updates on when these products will be available for sale.

Members are still able to make bookings for future ferry and Eurotunnel travel through our website. For those with special requests, please check our overseas FAQ page.
