The latest on our Club Site network

The majority of our Club Sites are open in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland with measures in place to protect the wellbeing of our staff and our campers.

We closely monitor government guidance and restrictions, which continues to differ across the four nations of the UK, so you may find our campsites are currently operating a little differently depending on their location. Please see below for more information including details on face coverings, the requirements to share your details for test and trace contact tracing programmes, and group bookings in each country.

Please be reassured, in line with government guidance around the four nations of the UK, that we will be taking a cautious approach to the easing of restrictions on our campsites.

Guidance on social distancing and legal restrictions on meeting others differs between nations, so please check Government websites for the latest information before you travel:

Closed Club Sites

We were desperate to run our entire network as normally as possible this year, but like many areas of the hospitality and tourism industry, we currently do not have as many staff members across the network as we need.

We're continuing to recruit to address this, but even as restrictions start to lift, our teams will still be working with additional measures and enhanced cleaning in place. It's important that we only open where we can operate safely and ensure we can deliver our usual high standards.

This means we have taken the difficult decision to close a small number of our Club Sites and Ready Camps, and we have contacted any members and customers affected. The following campsites will be closed at midday on 23rd July until next year: Bala, Clent Hills, Kelvedon Hatch, Lauder, Sheriff Hutton, Slindon and Speyside. Hertford and Theobalds Park are also closed and will both reopen from 1st November 2021.

If you have a booking on a closed Club Site or Ready Camp location, you should have been contacted via email, your booking will be cancelled automatically and refunded in full. If you have not received an email or would like to speak to someone about your booking, please contact us.

We sincerely apologise, we would like to reassure you that cancelling bookings is never a decision that's taken lightly. We hope to be able to assist you in making an alternative booking with the Club.

Country specific information for our campsites:

England: Our campsites are open with toilets, showers and communal areas such as laundries and dishwashing areas available. Face coverings are no longer compulsory in indoor areas on our campsites but we would encourage you to continue to follow government advice to wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces, such as facilities blocks. We would ask that you are considerate of other campers.

While we are no longer required to support contact tracing and collect customer information as part of the NHS Test and Trace programme, we continue to encourage campers to ‘check in’ and scan the QR code using the NHS Covid-19 app.

Although many restrictions have been lifted we understand some people remain cautious and ask that campers continue to respect others who may wish to continue observing measures such as social distancing.

Wales: Our campsites are open with toilets, showers and communal areas such as laundries and dishwashing areas now available and operating in line with government guidance with additional Club measures in place. We expect most measures on our campsites to remain in place until 7th August when the Welsh Government has indicated the country will complete the move to Level 0 (if conditions allow).

Scotland: Our campsites are open with facility blocks, communal areas, laundries and dishwashing areas available and operating in line with government guidance with additional Club measures in place. We expect most measures on our campsites to remain in place until 9th August, when the Scottish Government completes the move beyond Level 0.

Northern Ireland: Our Club Site is open with facility blocks, communal areas, laundries and dishwash areas available and operating in line with government guidance with additional Club measures in place. Where possible, please use your own self-contained facilities to help us manage social distancing requirements.

Across all nations: We are not accepting day visitors on our sites at the current time.

Test and trace contact tracing programmes

Our campsites in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are required to collect customer details in line with Government regulations to support NHS Test, Trace, Protect (England and Wales), NHS Scotland Test and Protect (Scotland) and Test, Trace and Protect (Northern Ireland) contact tracing programmes. On arriving at one of our campsites, you will be asked to scan an NHS QR code poster or provide contact details for anyone in your party aged 16 or over. Guests will need to do this every day of their stay. Alternatively for those campers not able to use the app you can easily register the details of everyone staying for the duration of your booking using our online form.

From 19th July we encourage campers staying on our sites in England to support NHS Test and Trace by ‘checking-in’ and scanning the QR code using the NHS Covid-19 app.

Measures in place on our campsites

We have a number of measures in place on our campsites, such as contactless check-in, and are taking a cautious approach to reducing them where we are allowed as restrictions lift. You can find out more about those measures here.

Certificated Sites

If you have any questions about facilities or additional measures on Certificated Sites, please contact them directly. Please note Certificated Sites operate under the same rules and guidance as Club Sites.

Extending your membership

It was really important that we supported our members through the April-June lockdown period in 2020, aware that they were unable to camp over the main season. As such the Club took the decision to add a three month extension to those who renewed, joined and stayed with the Club.

As the country recovers, we’re unsure what 2021 will bring but we’re looking forward to welcoming campers back - there are no further plans for additional membership extensions.

If you joined the Club or renewed your membership prior to July 4th 2020 and paid for your membership you’ll be eligible for the extension.

Because our membership system has to work in advance to process renewals, we are able to apply the renewal extension automatically from October.

If you’ve joined the Club or already renewed your membership

If you joined the Club or renewed your membership prior to our campsites re-opening on the 4th July:

  • Your 3-month extension will automatically be applied at the end of your current membership term.
  • Your next renewal notification will come 3 months later than it normally would, when the extension has finished.
  • This will then become your new renewal date going forward. See renewal dates table below.

If your renewal was due between 4th July and 30th September 2020

Because our membership system has to work in advance to process renewals, if your renewal date was between 4th July and 30th September your renewal date didn't change this year and you would have had to renew your membership in the normal way this time.

  • Your 3-month extension will be automatically applied at the end of this membership term. See renewal dates table below.

If you’re due to renew on or after 1st October 2020

  • We will be adding 3 months to the end of your current membership subscription.
  • Your 3-month extension will automatically be applied at the end of your current membership term.
  • Your next renewal notification will come 3 months later than it normally would, when the extension has finished.
  • This will then become your new renewal date going forward. See renewal dates table below.

Payment

If you pay by Direct Debit, there is no action for you to take, we’ll update our Direct Debit system and your payment date will be moved automatically. If you pay by any other method, you can continue to do so (or change to Direct Debit) in the usual way when you receive your next renewal letter.

Membership Cards

We won’t be issuing new membership cards for the 3 months extension period. However, we will issue you with confirmation of your membership extension at the point your renewal would have been due. Although the card will look out of date for the period of your 3-month extension, there’s no need to worry. You’ll still be able to access everything, and our systems will reflect the change of date so our Club staff will know about your extension. Should you wish to stay on a Certificated Site, Meet or Temporary Holiday Site, your confirmation will prove validity of your membership. Your new cards will arrive at the end of the extension period.

Overseas travel

With the uncertainty around Worldwide and European travel both now and for the foreseeable future, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our escorted tour and summer and winter rally programmes for 2021 (campsite bookings can still be made directly with the campsites). Please keep your eye on the Club website and magazine for further updates on when these products will be available for sale.

Members are still able to make bookings for future ferry and Eurotunnel travel through our website. For those with special requests, please check our overseas FAQs. If you are planning to travel to Europe, don’t forget to read our Data Sheet with key information and advice for travelling to mainland Europe post-Brexit.
