Club stars on BBC Antiques Road Trip
Popular BBC One TV show Antiques Road Trip broadcast an episode in November that was partly shot at Oxford Club Site, as the presenters searched out antiques in the surrounding Oxfordshire area.
The Club’s city-based campsite hosted filming for the first episode of the new series of the show, series 21, some time before the first coronavirus lockdown.
The Club’s Head of Communications and External Relations Simon McGrath (pictured centre) featured, pitching an antique tent from the Club’s archive and chatting with TV presenter, antiques expert and auctioneer James Braxton about the Club’s rich history. Braxton (left) was later joined on Oxford Club Site by fellow presenter Charles Hanson (right), arriving in one of the show’s trademark convertible classic cars, and they cooked bacon butties together on a camping barbecue. Simon said: “James was really impressed with the tent from the Club’s archive, called a Gem, that we pitched. It featured as a design in the Club magazine way back in October 1922 – nearly 100 years ago.”
