The Camping and Caravanning Club has closed its Club Sites network, together with the Camping in the Forest campsites, with immediate effect until further notice.
This closure also affects the Club's Certificated Sites network and all social camping including Club District Association meets and Temorary Holiday Sites.
Director General Sabina Voysey said: “Keeping our staff, members and their families safe and well is, and always will be, our first priority.
“Given the continued escalation of the virus, the thoughts of our members and the messages from local tourist boards, it is clear the time has now come to close all our sites with immediate effect.”
The Club would ask that members only call if they need to as staff will work through bookings and get to you as soon as they possibly can. The Club will also be emailing all members with existing bookings with further advice. While the telephone lines are busy, rest assured that staff are working very hard and are here to help.
For members who have a booking on the Club’s system between now and the end of April, please do not travel. There is no need to call us. Staff will contact you to rearrange your booking for later in the year or to offer you a full refund. If you are currently on-site, our teams will provide assistance if you need it.
For bookings in May, Club staff will continue to follow government advice and will make a statement on May bookings as soon as the situation becomes clear. We will also be contacting each of you with the option to keep your May booking, move it to later in the year or receive a full refund.
All bookings from June onwards can be amended to any available date in the next 15 months without any charge. Members can switch to any available campsite, and there is no limit to how many times you do this. Cancelled bookings will be subject to our standard cancellation policy.
Sabina added: “Our website will be updated regularly with further information and we’ll be in regular contact throughout our closure period. We’ll bring you news, content and suggestions for how we can all share our passion for camping and lift our collective spirits.
“Most of all, we are greatly looking forward to the day that we can invite you safely back to our sites and enjoy time with family and friends in the beauty of our countryside.”
