    Top site for beaches

This campsite is just over a mile from the beach and next to Africa Alive wildlife park.

The glorious beaches of the Suffolk coast are just one of the draws for our lovely Kessingland Club campsite which is tucked away behind the former fishing village with which is shares its name.

The campsite is spacious and well presented with level pitches, a family shower room, laundry and disabled facilities as well as a small site shop selling essentials.

The sand/shingle Kessingland Beach, is just a mile and a half from the campsite. This huge expanse of sand and sand hills (seals can be spotted from here) is popular with families. The beach also runs into Benacre nature reserve - famous for bird sightings every spring as migrating birds hit British land fall.

The area around our Kessingland campsite is great for animal lovers – in addition to Benacre you can see 300 species of birds at the RSBP reserve at Minsmere and right next door to the campsite is Africa Alive wildlife park, home to more than 80 species of animals from around Africa. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth has a tiger compound and tree-top walk to view the animals.

Lowestoft has everything you need for a traditional British seaside holiday from Victorian Seafront Gardens, fountains and two piers, plus Blue Flag award winning beaches. The sandy Lowestoft Beach, North Claremont has two piers and a number of cafes and seafront shops. The vast expanse of sand of the Blue Flag Lowestoft Beach, South Claremont makes it the ideal beach for sunbathing and sandcastles. Beach huts can be hired and there is an area with shops.

Head south to the beautiful seaside resort of Southwold. The town’s Museum and Sailor’s Reading Room provide an insight into the towns maritime past. There’s also a boating lake, Adnam’s Brewery is based in the town and head to the seafront to enjoy the award-winning beach, also famous for its colourful beach huts.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Please note: There are no grass-only pitches at this campsite so an additional pitch fee applies. There are also wind turbines near the campsite so you may hear some noise from them.

Worth Noting

Site has especially hard ground but is well drained. Please be aware that wind turbines are adjacent to site and you may hear some noise. TV signal is poor. When approaching site from the A12 follow the signs to Africa Alive and turn right into the wildlife park entrance road – the site is located 150m down the shared driveway on the left. Please note that Kessingland Beach is shingle and dogs are not allowed when walking towards Southwold.

Great site with a friendly welcome & a choice of pitches available. Everything spotless.

Great site with a friendly welcome & a choice of pitches available. Everything spotless. Great noise's from the Africa Alive site, from monkeys to the roar of lions at dusk. If you have dogs check out Cove Hithe which is a short drive away & dog friendly. Nice walk down to a fantastic beach. Look forward to going back again & seeing the new shower block.

Summer holidays with grandchildren need to be memorable and this was! The site is beautiful - well kept and spacious. The staff were so friendly and hard working. All the facilities were kept clean and tidy - I met the manager a couple of times sweeping up the toilet block at 7am! Africa alive is brilliant and it is well worth paying 3 each for a passport which lasts as long as your stay. We went everyday, even if just for an hour after the beach. The children certainly slept well!!I would highly recommend this site and we will most definately be back - if only to visit Zero the lion :-) A fantastic site.

Found that the site team are very efficient always around checking bins, maintaining grounds etc. The shower areas, washrooms very clean and tidy. Useful information and take away menues in washing up/info rooms. All local eateries deliver to the site food was good and hot. The only downside to this campsite is the lack of dog walking facility. There is a 30 x 5 mtr so called dog run which is pathetic. You will need to take your dogs off site to walk them. Unfortunately you are sharing the road with traffic coming and going from Africa Alive. For this reason only I could not recommend this site to anybody who has a dog. In fact the whole area appears to be strictly dog unfriendly.
