    Top site for beaches

This campsite is just over a mile from the beach and next to Africa Alive wildlife park.

The glorious beaches of the Suffolk coast are just one of the draws for our lovely Kessingland Club campsite which is tucked away behind the former fishing village with which is shares its name.

The campsite is spacious and well presented with level pitches, a family shower room, laundry and disabled facilities as well as a small site shop selling essentials.

The sand/shingle Kessingland Beach, is just a mile and a half from the campsite. This huge expanse of sand and sand hills (seals can be spotted from here) is popular with families. The beach also runs into Benacre nature reserve - famous for bird sightings every spring as migrating birds hit British land fall.

The area around our Kessingland campsite is great for animal lovers – in addition to Benacre you can see 300 species of birds at the RSBP reserve at Minsmere and right next door to the campsite is Africa Alive wildlife park, home to more than 80 species of animals from around Africa. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth has a tiger compound and tree-top walk to view the animals.

Lowestoft has everything you need for a traditional British seaside holiday from Victorian Seafront Gardens, fountains and two piers, plus Blue Flag award winning beaches. The sandy Lowestoft Beach, North Claremont has two piers and a number of cafes and seafront shops. The vast expanse of sand of the Blue Flag Lowestoft Beach, South Claremont makes it the ideal beach for sunbathing and sandcastles. Beach huts can be hired and there is an area with shops.

Head south to the beautiful seaside resort of Southwold. The town’s Museum and Sailor’s Reading Room provide an insight into the towns maritime past. There’s also a boating lake, Adnam’s Brewery is based in the town and head to the seafront to enjoy the award-winning beach, also famous for its colourful beach huts.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Please note: There are no grass-only pitches at this campsite so an additional pitch fee applies. There are also wind turbines near the campsite so you may hear some noise from them.

Worth Noting

Site has especially hard ground but is well drained. Please be aware that wind turbines are adjacent to site and you may hear some noise. TV signal is poor. When approaching site from the A12 follow the signs to Africa Alive and turn right into the wildlife park entrance road – the site is located 150m down the shared driveway on the left. Please note that Kessingland Beach is shingle and dogs are not allowed when walking towards Southwold.

had a great time despite the strong winds, staff gave some great tips on places to go to and we did them ta.We would advise anyone sleeping under canvas to take ear plugs for sleeping the wind turbines can be very noisy, but don't let this stop you going. It will be even better next year after the facilities have had there revamp over there closed period. Thank you one and all for a nice break away hope to see you next year maybe.

Overall we had a nice stay, met some lovely people. Our children got on with their children. Couple of little things about the site - one being that the manager is not people friendly . Parking of cars was intense. No sooner had you left it for 10 minutes unloading shopping he was over asking to be moved out to a car park that was full?? A small recommendation would be the cleaning of the toilets, 10:30 till 12 is a busy time for people in the morning when they want to go have a wash, would have been better a little bit later. Maybe 11:30 till 1:30. Manager also didn't like children it was raining one morning not very heavy, our children had won some water balloons in the 2p machines at the seaside, they stood there going and going untill they won the water balloons. we told them in the Rain to go put their swimming costumes on it was still sunny,, have a water balloons fight. We could see them clearly wasn't causing any harm just children having fun in the rain. Manager came storming out, I watched him from the top of the park, marching straight down to where the children were filling the water balloons up at drinking water . He took the balloons off the children, that were filling a bowl, he got the bowl and tipped it in the bin, the big waste bin. Then walked off. It was disgusting behaviour from a grown man. I approached him as walking away and ask him why he felt the need to put children's toys in a bin? He could have spoke to me? He said about the mess of the balloons and I said I was a responsible adult and I would have ensured that they pick them up straight away after. I have dogs and I definitely wouldn't allow my dogs or want anybody else's dogs to eat them. He then came back a few minutes later with a litter picker to pick out the balloons. I told him not to bother as they would be disgustingly dirty by now. It's a shame that happened on the holiday it was our summer holiday and it was tainted. The two assistants however where a lovely couple.

Our 5th visit to kessingland.

Our 5th visit to kessingland. We arrived, only to be met by holiday site manager, who was very rude, couldn't wait to get rid of us, we were booked in and told to wait by our unit, and 'if we are lucky, someone will be with us in a moment' we have been members for about 28 yrs and have never experienced anything like this before, maybe she needs some more training, if managers carry on like this, the friendly club will be know more.....
