La Trévillière offers the perfect combination of easy access to coast, countryside and village life

Located on the edge of the seaside village of Brétignolles, with shops and a weekly market, while a 10 minute bike ride on cycle paths brings you to glorious beaches. An English manager and good-sized touring pitches on site, with open sunny pitches in the upper part of the site, make this site popular with members. High season life centres around the pool, slide and bar; the covered pool is popular all season too.

Run by Simon Holmes for the Chadotel sites chain. English spoken.

Coal BBQ are widely used by other guests. Strict no mens swimming trunks (no shorts - must be speedos). Toilets do not have toilet roll, remember to take your own, showers / sinks etc. kept clean. Site kept very tidy, lovely swing park for children, childrens activities looked great. Varied nightly entertainment, good fun. Pool area too small for size of site, but well kept. Bar/restaurant small but adequate, staff lovely. No shop on site, small area for emergency purchases. Bread can be ordered from Bar daily. Bikes needed if you don't have a car. 20 minutes into town, 30 minutes+ to nearest beach on bikes. Bretignolles a lovely town, very busy on market days, indoor food hall selling local produce a must see. Super U supermarket, many local shops and bars/restaurants. Local buses from centre of town, we went to Les Sables 4 euro, 30 minute ride, well worth a visit. Great family site.

Plus points - -10 minute walk into the pleasant town of Bretignolles Sur Mer which has a large supermarket, bank, post office, chemist and restaurants. -30 minute walk to some beautiful beaches. -Easy access from site onto the Vendee Velo which has miles of glorious traffic free cycle routes. -Very friendly and helpful staff. - Floodlit baule pitches. - Good beachball pitch and table tennis table, though could do with an extra table tennis table as there was always a queue to use it. Minus points - Pitched very small, not only close together next to each other but also too close to pitches opposite. - Pitches are so small most people had nowhere to park their cars so these were parked on the roads making access around the site very difficult. - Site does have entertainment which finishes usually just after midnight. However, a nearby campsite had very loud entertainment that didn't finish until 5:45am!! Not ideal for a family holiday. - Toilets did have seats but more often than not had lumps of poo on them. You have to bring your own toilet roll and your own hand sanitiser as there are no sinks in the toilet block. - Toilets were mixed so frequently I found myself sitting in a cubicle doing my business while listening to two or even three chaps do theirs and have a conversation. - Urinals were outside, perhaps this is a plus point for those who like fresh air and don't mind people watching!
