Harlech Castle
Harlech
Harlech Castle is situated in the seaside resort of the same name, within the historic borders of Merionethshire.
The fort was built by Edward I during his invasion of Wales between 1282 and 1289, before being taken by the Welsh leader Owain Glyn Dwr in 1404.
The Castle is situated high on a rock next to the Irish Sea, and has been described as looking like it grew naturally from the rock on which it stands.
