Carthago c-tourer I 144QB 3.5T: first impressions

If you’ve never used an A-class motorhome, I completely understand you may be apprehensive about it. This type of motorhome is bigger, boxier and heavier than many of the more common coachbuilt units, but my own apprehension of using the Carthago c-tourer I 144QB 3.5T faded within about ten minutes of being behind the wheel.
Having been given the chance to be the first of the Camping & Caravanning team to stay in the unit, I decided to take it down to Dorset for a long weekend and put it through its paces. I was immediately impressed by the view from the cabin and responsiveness of the engine – and also the fact I could drive it at all. Its Maximum Authorised Mass of 3,500kg means you only need a B-class (post January 1997) standard car driving licence to get behind the wheel.
