Happy families are the aim of the Rocky Mountain 5 Plus, which combines generous proportions and a distinctive tunnel design that makes assembly speedy (20 minutes tops), and which Coleman colourfully describes as ‘divorce-free pitching’. That’s not bad for accommodation for five, including living space and porch. Coleman recommends this tent for those wanting a small pack size without compromising on the living space. The tent frame uses GRP (fibreglass) poles, keeping the kitbag as lightweight as possible. For someone used to crawling in and out of two-man tents it was something of a novelty to upgrade to a full-height tent. The generous living area easily accommodates table and chairs for those evenings in, and the large front and side windows (with blinds) make time spent here all the more pleasant.
