Julia Bradbury promotes Breast Cancer Awareness
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month began on 1 October, Club President Julia Bradbury has been highlighting the importance of checking your body.
This comes just weeks after announcing that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was due to have a mastectomy.
It was confirmed after a mammogram in July, a year after finding a lump that was a cluster of benign micro-cysts. And to begin Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Julia re-shared her story.
On Twitter, she said: “As I head towards my operation, I want to say thank you for all your kind messages of support, love and advice. I’m sorry I can’t respond personally to all of you but I’m so grateful. A cancer diagnosis is a shock for anyone, and I know so many of you are going through the same thing. I feel blessed to have such love and support. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please check yourselves.
“Treatment and survival rates are better than ever. The breakthroughs are happening now and there is some clear advice on measures we can all follow to prevent cancer.”
Julia is also encouraging people to help raise money for a number of cancer charities by taking part in sponsored walks as part of her ‘Boots for Boobs’ campaign. Everyone at the Club sends their best wishes for Julia’s treatment and a full and speedy recovery.
