The Motorhome and Caravan Show held annually at the NEC, Birmingham in October has been cancelled for the second year in a row.
The announcement, from show organisers NCC Events, comes just 14 weeks before the show was due to take place and is, it said, due to the lack of clarity over the rules on holding of large indoor events as well as concerns the show may generate additional demand for new leisure vehicles at a time when it may prove to be 'untenable for some' exhibitors to meet demand.
The organisers also consulted visitors and found although there is a huge appetite for the show, it needed to put their safety and wellbeing first.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly as we are aware that many of our visitors, exhibitors and suppliers were looking forward to being able to get together as an industry and community,” said NCC Events. “But you need not wait that long, as the good news is that NCC Events are increasing the scope of the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show in February.”
It said it has already secured all the major brands who will use the show to reveal their new 2022 season models.
Those who have already purchased a ticket can transfer it to the February event, to next October's show – scheduled to take place 18-23 October – or get a refund.
