The family-run company, which has a 40,000 sq ft facility including one of the biggest motorhome showrooms in the UK, beat off competition from scores of other regional businesses in the Training Excellence category and was also one of the runners-up in the Business of the Year category.

Ross Edwards, managing director at Erwin Hymer Centre Travelworld, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Training Excellence award and to have been in the running for the Business of the Year prize.

“Maintaining outstanding customer service and knowledge of all our products is a huge part of our offering which is why we invest so heavily in training.

“We have more than 80 per cent of our workforce currently undergoing some form of training and there are more than 30 subjects our colleagues can study, as well as complete apprenticeships and NVQ courses.

“Throughout the last 12 months and as a result of the pandemic, we have also developed courses on anxiety and mental health, as well as bereavement training.

The Stoke-on-Trent Live Business Awards were held virtually this year and were hosted by ITV weather presenter Emma Jesson.

Amongst the seven-strong judging panel were David Gage, Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire and Geoff Riley, chief executive at the Staffordshire Business Innovation Centre.
