VW Campervan becomes mobile monument to Skipton
An iconic 1979 Volkswagen campervan has been rescued from a field and converted into a moving monument to the town of Skipton by a local businessman, to help boost tourism following coronavirus lockdown.
Andrew Mear unearthed the classic campervan in a field and paid the owner £9,000 for it. Within six weeks, he’d fully restored it and wrapped it in new graphics, showing famous landmarks around his beloved Skipton including the 700-year-old High Corn Mill, Skipton Castle, High Street House and the famous cobbled streets.
The distinctive campervan will be a regular sight on the High Street during market and festival days.
