The Motorhome & Caravan Show, the biggest indoor consumer show of its type, runs from 15-20 October at Birmingham NEC.
To follow yesterday’s snapshot of innovative new caravans and motorhomes, here’s our round-up of the tents and trailer tents ranging in price from just over £3,000 to nearly ten times that:
Camplair S
Priced at around the £4,000 mark, the Camplair S boasts the largest double bed. As with all the units, the beds are off the ground with proper domestic-style mattresses. You won’t get many bells and whistles with this Camplair but it still has underbed tents and a spacious living area.
Campmaster Air
This Campmaster Air comes in a tiny trailer that’s small enough to be towed by a motorbike. It’s based on a Kampa tent with modifications and you can enjoy a memory foam mattress in the UK-made inner tent inside it.
Venter Savuti
If you have a couple more thousand pounds to play with you could own the Venter Savuti. This is a rugged off-road-style trailer tent from South Africa, complete with Jerry can holders and a zinc galvanised chassis. Your sleeping area is well above the ground here.
Raclet Solena
The French Raclet Solena also sells for around £6,000. Like the Sauvati, in standard form it’s a two-berth. There’s a distinctive round window (see right) in the awning and a layout that has the sleeping area tucked away out of view. It’s made from 100 per cent cotton fabric.
Isabella Camp-let Dream XL
Both the Isabella and Camp-let names have been synonymous with quality for many years and this Isabella Camp-let Dream XL model – selling for around £7,500 – has quality in spades. It’s a dealer special version from Camperlands with a deluxe kitchen included and an optional annex. Its flysheet is in Isabella’s breathable acrylic canvas.
If you’d like a few more features but are still looking for an easy-to-tow trailer rather than a caravan, you might be interested in some of the folding campers here. These are both thoroughly British but very different.
Pathfinder
The Pathfinder is at the top of Pennine Outdoor Leisure’s 2020 range. It’s very well specified with a full washroom, kitchen with a proper cooker and two fold-out double beds. The central U-shaped seating will accommodate a couple more people if you need even more sleeping area. And this year you can choose a darkened sleep-tite inner tent for longer lie-ins on summer mornings. You’ll pay a bit over £16,000 for this model.
Off Road Air Opus
The most pricey folding camper at the show is the Off-Road Air Opus. It has a real safari feel with teak surfaces and leatherette furnishings (see main image). Like the Venter, it’s really designed to go off-road with chunky tyres and hefty spring suspension. The Extreme top-of-the-range version is full of goodies, like a pull-out kitchen, a bike rack and awning lighting but it will set you back £25,000.
