Tent Owner Satisfaction Awards
The Camping and Caravanning Club’s Tent Owner Satisfaction Awards take place every January.
They come out of our annual Tent Survey, which measures ownership satisfaction, based on information supplied freely by purchasers of new tents, plus folding campers (including trailer tents). For 2020, we also have a new category – awnings.
The survey itself takes place in the preceding year and is based on feedback about the buying and using experiences of those who bought new tents and awnings in the three years before that. Results for the 2020 Awards were collated during the 2019 season. Brands with the highest overall satisfaction scores are crowned winners.
You can view the latest results on the following pages. For each category page you will find details on the winning brands for each year (the first awards were held in 2016), and see which manufacturers rank most highly among tent owners themselves.
Our aim in publishing these findings is to inform your search for your next tent – helping you to shop more smartly.
Each page also features a pdf download that you can print off and read for more information. It’s worth noting at least a million tents are purchased every year, in a market that’s worth over £135million (according to outdoor industry analyst Profile Outdoors). The UK is a major player in a tent market across the whole of Europe that’s expected to be worth £1billion by 2023 (source: Research and Markets).
For 2018, UK sales of tents and caravan/motorhome awnings combined were worth some £9.6million, according to another analyst, Statista. Also, market researcher Mintel says more than 15.7 million camping and caravanning trips were taken by UK adults in 2018, although this includes caravan holiday homes.
