We stayed on this site during storm Ali in our small Freedom caravan, we had to take the awning down as we were getting buffeted with the gales, the next night we thought we were going to get turned over . We are grateful to the owners who came to our rescue and we ended up with three wagon slings and stakes holding us down, set that aside we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, lovely views over Whitby . We will definitely be back. Allan and Hazel

Spent 7 nights at this small quiet green field site. Variable slope on most of the site. Cost me £15/night including electric hook up. Male & female toilets each with a toilet and shower, latter free with good hot water. Views of Whitby Abbey from the top of the site, but lower down obscured by a hedge. Basic, but enjoyed my stay, only disadvantage exposed so battered by the wind.

We loved this site it's so peaceful with great views. We had a warm friendly welcome and the map for the walk to Robin Hoods Bay was very useful, although we would advise stopping in the Fylingdales Inn for dinner before walking up the hill back to the campsite. The site and facilities are very clean and very quiet apart from the farm, animal noises are to be expected but couldn't be heard in our caravan. We enjoyed our week so much we plan to return as soon as possible.

Very pleasant site. Booked because our usual sites on the coast were full.

Very pleasant site. Booked because our usual sites on the coast were full. The name is not a lie - but the Abbey is a long way off. And the view is possible because the site is quite high. Delightful cycle rides into both Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, but a steady climb back to the site. The Cinder Trail is about a mile away from the site and required some road cycling to access it (including a short section of the A171). Therefore we wouldn't recommend it for family cycling. Reasonably quiet site, but surrounded by working farms. The cows were vocal at 6.30 am milking. Perfectly adequate and clean facilities. One shower and loo for both ladies and gents. Plenty of hot water.
