The surrounding area

Scarborough Club Site is an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast. The beach is a short cliff-top walk from the site, whilst the town of Scarborough, which has two sandy bays divided by the castle headland, is just 1.5 miles away from the site.

The town’s attractions include the dramatic ruins of a 12th-century castle, the Sea Life & Marine Sanctuary, a miniature railway, Peasholm Park and the Alpamare Water Park. Nearby at Wykeham Lakes is the newly opened AquaPark (featuring “Total Wipeout”). Within walking distance of the site is the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, a popular music venue in the summer. Local walking options include the Cleveland Way National Trail, the North Yorkshire Moors National Park or you can view seabirds such as puffins and gannets at the RSPB nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs. Local cycling options include the ‘Cinder Track’ which runs from Scarborough to Whitby. A regular bus service (9/ 9A) runs every 30 minutes, from directly outside the Club site into Scarborough and runs until early evening.

Whether you’re looking for a nostalgic family holiday, a cultural break, an action packed sporting day out or just a relaxing few days off, Scarborough – Britain’s first holiday resort – has something for you.

I got a site at the busiest time of the holidays, just by turning up. The site is excellent. Very well maintained, neat, tidy and calm Toilets and showers in good order - and hot water! Very little noise and feels like the staff know exactly what they are doing. Scarborough and the cleveland way are nearby. Also a bus stop to get into town Just one issue - the cost for a one person tent is high (and would be even if i was a club member)

This is the second time we have visited the site in less than a year. The site is brilliant with plenty of space for people, plenty of toilets and showers for everyone. Place is very tidy and is well looked after by site team. There is a play area for the kids, on site takeaway and small shop. The site is less than 2 miles to town centre or a 30 minute walk. Next to site is the pub which serves good and cheap food. The only negative thing i would say about the site is how expensive it is when another person stays in your tent which should be looked at. As the jump in price from two people staying to three is a lot.

This review is for Scarborough

This site is a great location for sightseeing but some of the pitches near the road are very noisy. We had a disappointing start. After setting up our caravan and awning we were then later told we were not accurately pitched with the back left of the caravan level with the numbered post. If this is isn't explained on arrival, how are we supposed to know! We had to take the awning down, unhook electricity, water gas, legs up etc and move the caravan 1 metre to the right without any offer of help from the member of staff who when he told us said, "I am about to ruin your holiday!" perhaps this pitching stipulation needs to be in the welcome book like it is on a caravan club site so people are fully informed? Would it stop us staying on this site again? No as it has good facilities with the takeaway on site, parks for children and its location etc.

Plesently surprised after reading some negative reviews ! We were greeted on arrival by friendly warden , who chose pitch with us ( near shower block cos thats what we like ) The pitch was grassy ( makes a change from gravel that gets everywhere ) And it was flat Just electric , but the TV reception through our own aerial was great We were next to shower block and away from main road ( might be noisy by the road in a tent ) We were also very near the cutting to the Pub Pub served lovely meals all day and was good & inexpensive too There is a fish n chip shop open on the site each evening ( didnt get any but it looked good ! There is a big field for dog exercise too There are huge areas for all types of camping , plenty of space for kids and an indoor area for them should it be wet The shop at reception isnt very well stocked but ok for emergencies and the staff are all very helpful & friendly The bus to Scarborough is just at the entrance to the site & theres a great cliffs walk to North Pier at Scarborough All in all a very good experience no complaints ??
