Overview

Discover Dorset's beautiful beaches & surrounding area from our Moreton campsite.

Dorset’s beautiful beaches, heath and downlands are all accessible from our Moreton Club campsite located in the heart of Wessex and surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our 120-pitch site is open and spacious with a good range of facilities, including two amenity blocks, a small children’s play area and a dog walk.

Moreton station next to the campsite is on routes to Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth and the bus stop, half a mile from site, will take you to the pretty county town of Dorchester where you can enjoy a number of walking trails including the Thomas Hardy trail and the Roman Town Walk. The town’s Borough Gardens has tennis courts, a bowling green and a children’s play area and hosts a number of events through the summer including live bands and a teddy bear’s picnic.

Head to the sleepy village of Moreton and stop off at the Tearooms, situated in the old school at Moreton for a cream tea. Thomas Edward Lawrence, popularly known as “Lawrence of Arabia” is buried in the church here. A more elaborate memorial can be found at St. Martins church, Wareham.

The village forms part of the “Lawrence of Arabia Walking Trail. The walks take in Bovington, Clouds Hill, Moreton Church and Lawrence’s grave.

Attractions in the area include the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World Ape rescue Centre in Wareham and Lulworth and Corfe Castles. For the best beaches, head to the circularLulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay – great for rock pooling and swimming – and the blue flag beach at Swanage.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

My wife and I camped here in August with Tent and Electric Pitch.

This review is for Moreton

My wife and I camped here in August with Tent and Electric Pitch. Arrival and booking in process was friendly and efficient and we were shown to our pitch and given a guide to the facilities . Despite camping in the peak holiday season , the site was not too busy. At first glance you'd think the two toliet blocks ( of 3 x showers & 3 x Loos) would not be sufficient but i didn't have to queue once. which was a bonus. The location was ideal for us as we travelled aropund Dorset during our stay. We also used the local pub and station as both in walking distance. The Pub " Frampton Arms" serve good quality food but service is a tad slow so don't expect your food quickly ! I have no complaints other than the shop could extend its opening times ( 9am - 6pm) , and the mens toliets need a new flush as it took ages and didnt always work first time. Minor thing i know..but thats all i can mention. Loved the site, people were friendly and the site was always clean .

Average site! The staff are very friendly and helpful, the site is clean and tidy. The toilet blocks are cleaned to a high standard and often. Minus points are the blocks are not the usual ccc ones and lack enough showers, toilets and no cubicles for brushing teeth/strip wash in private. The train close by wasn't a problem but noise from the road is a nuisance. Overall an average site, wouldn't revisit or recommend.

This is an excellent site.

This is an excellent site. Other reviewers have mentioned the rail that runs alongside, we were on a pitch that backed onto the track and can honestly say we did not find it a problem. The staff were excellent and friendly nothing being to much trouble. Im writing this review on our last but one night, and as General MacArthur said we will return.

“Moreton is a real favourite of ours and we have been going there for years. Moreton is brilliantly run and extremely clean. It has a real community feeling and the grounds are always splendid. Over the years we have recommended many and it too has become their favourite.”
