    Find the peace and quiet you deserve in the heart of glorious Wiltshire countryside with a stay at Devizes Club Site. As well as being perfectly placed for gentle walks in the country or stunning cycle rides, Devizes is also close to some of the world’s most significant prehistoric sites, such as Stonehenge and Avebury Stone Circle.

     

    Canalside calm

    This well-designed site offers a sense of secluded privacy to its 115 pitches, thanks to hedging and trees, and also features an amenity block, a children’s play area, a playing field, and a large field for dogs. The Avon and Kennet Canal runs along the southern border of the site and is great for walks, as well as fishing (a licence and permit are required). The famous Caen Hill locks are just two-and-a-half miles away – an impressive range of 29 locks that raise boats a 237-foot incline.

     

    History and heritage

    Stonehenge is not the only nearby historic site of interest – the town of Devizes itself is home to a castle with origins in the 11th Century. Elsewhere in the town, you’ll discover intriguing shops, great cafés and restaurants, and Wadworth Brewery, which runs guided tours. For those looking to explore even further, you can easily catch a bus to Bath or Bristol.

    • Fishing is available on the canal, fees payable at reception.
    • Rock pegs needed for hardstanding pitches.
    • Please ensure you do not arrive prior to 1pm as the entrance road to the site is narrow and short. There is no parking or waiting area for arrivals.

    Caen Hill Locks

    Located on the Kennet and Avon Canal, the Caen Hill Locks are a flight of 29 locks between Rowde and Devizes in the Wiltshire countryside.

    Wadworth Brewery

    Built in 1885, this Victorian tower brewery in the heart of Devizes is a fascinating tour through the brewing process and history of Wiltshire.

    Lacock Abbey

    Founded in the early 13th Century, Lacock Abbey is a characterful country house in the idyllic village of Lacock. It’s possibly best known for being the filming location for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter franchise.

    Westbury White Horse

    Possibly one of England’s most renowned hill carvings, the Westbury White Horse measures over 30 metres from head to tail. Lying on the side of an Iron Age hill fort, the reason for its creation remains uncertain.

    Avebury Henge

    Free to enter, Avebury Stone Circle is considered one of the greatest marvels of prehistoric Britain. Dating back to 2850 BC, the henge is a huge circular bank and ditch containing the largest stone circle in Britain.
