Motorhoming with kids

During the Easter holidays my family hired a motorhome for the very first time. We are not seasoned caravanners, nor particularly seasoned campers so this was all very new.
We booked the trip in early January and planned to head to a festival at May half-term. We thought this would be the perfect introduction to both a weekend at a festival with the kids and a stay in a motorhome; however, travel plans changed for May as we swapped Wales for Rwanda (that’s a whole other story) and our weekend in the motorhome had to be moved to Easter.
This left less time to sort things out and we also worried the weather wouldn’t be great. What should we do?
