The Gtech Multi MKII is no ordinary hand-held vacuum cleaner as tester CLAIRE LAWLOR found out.
The Gtech Multi weighs in at 1.6kg and its small compact design makes it easy to use. It has a soft grip handle and an on/off button on the top of the unit. The Multi made easy work of all of the surfaces I used it on, it also moves between hard floor and carpets effortlessly. The real test for me was in the car, with all of those hard to reach areas. Being the owner of three dogs my car is never short of a hair or two, along with grass and mud.
Working from the front of the car to the back I was pleasantly surprised. There's a good array of accessories included with the Gtech Multi. In the car, I found the crevice tool the most handy to get into those hard-to-reach places and it’s cleverly hidden away in the base of the cleaner. The power brush head worked fabulously on the car mats, carpets and upholstery picking up all of the pet hair and grass with ease. Due to its shape it is a little awkward to find the correct position to ensure maximum results, but once you get used to this you will be fine.
Other accessories include a dusting brush, extension tube and extendable hose. Plus you can also purchase a car kit including a small upholstery brush, flexible crevice tool and a soft dusting brush. All of this comes in its own bag and can be purchased from Gtech for about £25.
This all round cleaner is not just for the car (or motorhome, caravan or campervan), it's also particularly useful around the home, especially on the stairs.
The compact and stylish Gtech Multi II
For a small hand-held cleaner it's a mighty machine and even when the dust bin starts to fill up you won’t notice any loss in suction. A single charge will last a good 20 minutes and there is a bank of LEDs on the top of the cleaner indicating how much charge is left. A full recharge of the Multi takes about four hours but a one hour charge will give you a quick burst of additional cleaning time. The battery handily detaches from the base for charging so you don’t need it to be attached to the cleaner, which makes things much easier.
Emptying the bin is rather easy too, it simply pulls out and away from the cleaner, and you open the flap to empty the contents into your bin. The filter can be taken out via the dust bin and cleaned with ease. The filter is sponge-based and washable, and it dries super quick too.
For me the Gtech Multi has made cleaning the car and troublesome areas both at home and away much easier as it's small, handy and compact. As tent campers we also take the Multi with us to give our tent floor a once over before we pack it away. It’s much easier and quicker to use than a dustpan and brush!
