The striking aspect of this soft shell jacket is its colour, dark satsuma, though it also boasts technical features.
Dark satsuma might not be to every outdoor enthusiast’s taste so thankfully there is also a black version in the men’s range. Soft shell jackets are often worn as part of a layering approach to clothing. They are water-resistant and made of breathable materials, and often sit beneath a waterproof hard shell to make an all-weather clothing combination. The Element Track by Jack Wolfskin can be zipped into a compatible outer jacket. That said, many people also wear them solo as jackets in milder weather conditions. The Element Track is both wind- and water-resistant and comes with a soft microfleece on the inside plus two hip pickets. Jack Wolfskin Element track soft shell Our tester said: “I’m a fairly standard Large size but in the past I have found some Jack Wolfskin clothing a bit on the snug side. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when the jacket felt like a good fit. Added to that is the elasticated fabric, called Flex Shield, which boosted flexibility and movement. “I also liked the chunky zips though my wife is still getting used to the funky colour.” Mens: Colours dark satsuma and black. Available in S to XXXL. Women’s: Colours hibiscus red and black. Available in S to XXL.
