Club President Julia Bradbury chose the neat little gadget, the Garmin Vivoactive, in the Cotswold episode of her latest ITV series, Best Walks with a View, to keep tabs on her hike through the region.

This ultra-thin Smartwatch, priced £159.99, has an easy to read, high-resolution colour touchscreen. It features built-in sports apps that track your stats. The running app, for example, uses GPS to capture the distance and pace while golfers can pair with their Smartphone to download course maps, measure shot distances at the press of a button and check whether they're under or over par. Apps for swimmers, cyclists and walkers also keep tabs on their activity and progress.

The Vivoactive also alerts you to all the same notifications you receive on your compatible blue-tooth enabled device – text messages, emails and social media, as well as other mobile apps, including weather alerts and temperature.
