Dacia has a reputation for no nonsense with its cars. The Romanian brand, which is part of the Renault Group, has a strong marketing message asking drivers to ‘do the math’ when it comes to its affordable and sometimes no-frill vehicles. This ethos is plain to see with the all-new Duster, the company’s popular compact SUV, which has had a full makeover for 2018. Every single exterior panel of the Duster has been redesigned on this new version of the car giving it a more chunky and more robust appearance – though it’s only a clever design illusion, as it keeps pretty much the same dimensions as the original 2013 model. The interior has also had a significant facelift and now includes a large touchscreen interface plus piano-style keys for many of the functions. The plastic used on much of the interior has been vastly improved compared to the original (however it does still feel a little cheap) and some other nice touches such as firmer seats with better support, with more adjustment settings added. Road noise in the cabin has also been greatly reduced.
