The Club celebrates its half-century heroes
Almost 60 members attended Club Headquarters to receive certificates and badges from Club Chairman Mel Hill to commemorate 50 years of continuous membership.
Here we share their best memories of a half-century camping with the Club
Malcom and Norma Jewitt:
“We joined in 1967 for a year to see what it was like – it’s safe to say we liked it! We love DA camping (with Northumbria DA) and think it’s easily the best thing about being members of the Club.”
Pam and Nick Hancock:
“We originally joined because camping was a great way to holiday with our two young sons – they are now both very grown up and we have passed camping on to them. Our favourite place to camp is Blackmore Club Site.”
Donald Shaw and Alma White:
“We met through the Club – we were both widowed and met at a National Feast of Lanterns (NFOL) in 1998 and have been together for the 20 years since. We still get out regularly in our trailer tent.”
Phil Hunter:
“My wife Marion has only been a member for ten years, but I introduced her when we met. I camped so much when I was younger that my daughter spent the first month of her life under canvas.”
Members celebrate a half-century of camping with the Club
Philip and Jean Revell:
“We love to camp all over Europe, we have even driven as far as Cyprus to go camping. The Club has always been a big part of our lives and we were founder members of Fenland DA.”
Brian and Lilian Watts:
“Many a Goose Fair and NFOL have brought us great enjoyment over the years. We have also regularly volunteered to help run meets on behalf of Mid Anglia DA and the Eastern Counties British Caravanners’ Club.”
