The Best CS awards are based on positive nominations and reviews from Club members as well as expert comments from the Club’s volunteer Site Assessment Officers, for which Bedale scored an impressive ten out of ten in each of the five categories they assess sites on.

The site was well noted for being “kept in excellent condition”, for its “very friendly and helpful owners” and for its “beautiful surroundings”.

One of Bedale Camping and Caravanning’s co-owners Ross Jenkins said: “We were very surprised to have won the award. Obviously, it is not what you set out to achieve when you start something like this, but we are delighted. All I can say is that our success is down to being local and knowing the area and lots and lots and lots of hard work. There were moments when we were working in the cold and the dark of winter to get the site ready and wondering if it would ever happen, but now it’s open we are enjoying it and this award is a fitting reward for everyone’s hard work.”

The site only opened in May 2017, and subsequently won the Best New CS award too. Another notable winner in this year’s awards was last year’s overall Best CS winner The Osiers, near Chichester, West Sussex, which picked up the Best Hideaway award for the third consecutive year.
