Dad builds dream mini-caravan for disabled son
A dad has helped create the ultimate caravanning Christmas gift for his disabled son with the help of leading British caravanning brand Lunar.
Carpenter Martin Tierney decided to build a scaled-down model of the family’s Lunar Quasar 525 caravan for his car, trailer and motorhome-obsessed son Dylan to be able to tow behind his motorised wheelchair.
The miniature caravan features a hitch, door, windows and lights – but for the finishing touch, Martin reached out to Lunar who were touched by his efforts and supplied scaled-down decals to give the caravan a realistic finish.
Lunar CEO and Chairman Brian Mellor said: “Martin emailed me and explained the very special project he was working on for his remarkable son. We were deeply moved by the motives behind his undertaking and it was an absolute pleasure to be able to help him finish the project by supplying scale versions of the decals for his model.”
Martin added: “[Dylan] is an amazing and very bright boy and loves spending time in the caravan. It was my dream he would have his own authentic mini version to tow around with his power chair when he’s at home. I’m grateful to Lunar for their help in making that dream a reality.”
Dylan was absolutely delighted with his present on Christmas morning and couldn’t wait to take it for a test drive.
