Just ahead of the holiday season this annual event, organised by Ordnance Survey (OS) Great Britain's national mapping agency, aims to educate people of all ages about the importance of map reading and how to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and accessible way.

While many people rely on GPS devices and apps to navigate signal and services can often be limited or lost. Being able to read a paper map as a backup is an essential skill to ensure you enjoy the countryside safely.

During National Map Reading Week OS will be encouraging everyone to grab a map and get practising their skills.

OS will be launching a Map Reading Quiz to test your current knowledge with the opportunity to win a badge.
