Site history attracts Military Vehicle Trust
Ebury Hill Club Site welcomed 20 military vehicle enthusiasts from the Shropshire and border counties group of the Military Vehicle Trust (MVT) onto the site on the evening of 27 May.
The vehicles paraded around site at 7pm, after which drivers parked up to answer questions from campers.
The Club Site is situated on top of an Iron Age hill, dating from l000BC, and more recently it has a rich miltary history too. Concrete roads laid by the Ministry of Defence can be found around the site, encircling a large pond - formerly a quarry used to test amphibious duck vehicles during the second world war.
MVT member David Meyer (pictured middle, flanked by Site Managers Jackie and Paul Buddin, and Site Assistants Kathy and Martin) said: "There was a local show at lronbridge about the second world war on the same day that I was doing some local research and came across the reference that this site that was used for testing during the war so shared the idea of visiting with the members."
Armed Forces Covenant
The Club recently achieved the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme to acknowledge its support for employing veterans and those connected with the Armed Forces.
The Club has pledged its support for the Armed Forces community through the Armed Forces Covenant. This pledge outlines our support by advertising jobs within the Armed Forces community and support for our employees who are Reservists.
