Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site is on the edge of the village of Priddy, the highest in the Mendips.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club Site is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's an ideal base to explore the area for walking, cycling, caving and rock climbing activities.

The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry room and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. There are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

You can walk to the village of Priddy where you'll find a popular pub serving food just 3/4 mile from the site and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts a popular folk festival in July and other events throughout the year. There are also many other pubs and restaurants in the local area.

There are many attractions in Somerset and the surrounding area including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Longleat Safari Park and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award.

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our two holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

WiFi

WiFi is available at this site. However please note the service is supplied by a different provider therefore your Site WiFi card (powered by WiComs) cannot be used. Please contact the site direct for more information.

Worth Noting

The site is 45 minutes towing time from M4 Junction 18 and M5 Junction 23. Not all pitches are flat and chocks are advised. There is no on-site dog walk, but there is a local footpath near the main gate. Please note that there may be sheep, cattle or horses in the fields, and your dog must be kept on a lead. The footpaths may become very muddy during wet weather, so stout shoes or wellingtons are recommended.

Eat Local

Site shop stocks locally-produced preserves, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, cider and ales. Bread and pastries baked on site. A farm butcher is next door and village pubs serve local produce. Farmers’ Market is held in Wells on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Driving to the site we thought we had forgotten our tent pegs - on arrival we asked if we could buy some and the chap took us to a pile of second hand ones and told us to help ourselves. It turned out I hadn't forgotten to pack our pegs so we popped them back. Really friendly welcome, the chap that met us was chirpy and knowledgeable, he gave us the site information including the door codes, and also told us of the walk into the village to the pub and the farm shop next door. This is the first CCC site we have stayed on and we were amazed at the cleanliness of the toilets, washing up facilities and showers - sparkling at all times. They were closed for 1.5 hours every day for cleaning - with a toilet being available if you need it. The shop was well stocked and the home made scones we bought were delicious. We went onto Cheddar and to Wells for the day - both close by and well worth a visit. Although Cheddar Gorge is National Trust they don't run any of the car parks and therefore you have to pay 5 to park for the day. All in all a great site, fab location, friendly staff and lovely and clean.

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 days at this site & is very convenient to all the areas attractions . The toilet block is clean and well cared for. The staff were very caring & helpful. Unfortunately the holiday was marred by the awful smell from the septic tank, although it was emptied during our stay. On 3 days we saw a rat on the stone wall just a few feet from our tent. Perhaps the two problems are linked & both need sorting soon. We will return in the future but will request a pitch in the main field rather than the paddock.

The Cheddar Campsite in the Mendip Hills is a lovely campsite in a beautiful part of Somerset. The facilities and staff are great and it's very peaceful. The pitches are quite close together, so maybe not suited to families with children, although there is a play area.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
