Overview
There is an abundance of wildlife in the New Forest and the relaxed atmosphere means most will have little fear coming close to the campsite; campers at Setthorns can expect to see a number of New Forest ponies and maybe even some deer. There is an array of activities to get involved in while staying at this campsite including cycling and walking through the New Forest or visits the nearby seaside resorts of Barton on Sea and Bournemouth. Nearby attractions include the New Forest Reptile Centre, Hurst Castle and lighthouse and the Red House Museum and Gardens which is a must see for archaeology or geology enthusiasts. Close to the villages of Sway and Brockenhurst, there are plenty of restaurants, craft shops and pubs to keep everyone entertained.
Please note
It is essential that you bring your own chemical toilet. There are no shower or toilet facilities on this site.
Any barbeques used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbeques for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites no barbeques of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.
Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies.
Please be aware of temporary roadworks on route to the campsite.
