This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

Major Bridge Park is a large and very level site in a scenic, rural location making it an ideal spot for a truly relaxing break. The site is divided by the old Market Weighton to Bubwith railtrail, suitable for walking, cycling and dog walking and can be used to access the village of Holme upon Spalding Moor. Major Bridge Park is about an hours drive from the East coast and North Yorkshire Moors which offer plenty of options for a leisurely day out, or alternatively, check out some of the local towns and cities for a spot of shopping or some site seeing. We also have a club room available for hire for larger groups or parties. Check out our website for more details of things to do and places to visit to make your stay an enjoyable one.

The site is a lovely big well mown field hidden away behind a coach company garage, so it's well away from the main road. The Bubwith Rail Trail passes through the back of the site making a pleasant half hour walk to the main part of the village where the pub, shops and cafe's are. Please note, the shops etc are more than a mile away. We had pre-booked to stay here in order to watch the 'Tour de Yorkshire' and, consequently, the site was very busy that weekend. We had booked a pitch with EHU but, when we arrived on Friday afternoon, all these pitches were well oversubscribed and we were hooked up to the electric via two extension leads. By Saturday morning something major had blown ( which came as no surprise) and there was no electric. The owners did offer the camping at 10 per night but we decided to leave as we did need the electric. I have to say, there seemed to be a certain amount of disorganisation with the person dealing with arrivals not seeming to know how many people were booked in or who they were. With regard to facilities, they are very basic - just 3 ladies loos (don't know about the men's!) and two sinks (the sinks are not in cubicles). There is one shower for the entire site. I have no idea how busy this site normally is but I can't see that just one shower is ever going to be enough for the number of people that the site were trying to book in for the weekend we were there. I didn't try the shower as there was no electric. I would only recommend this site to campers not needing electric or other facilities. In the village, there are two cafe's (we tried the home caf in the High Street - very good breakfasts!), I think there's 2 pubs, a paper shop, a butcher's and a bakery.

Fantastic site.

Fantastic site. Nice village of Holme on Spalding Moor with good shops and pubs is 5 minutes drive away. Our small kids had a great time running round on an unusually large field. Unlike many certificated sites it has toilets and showers - both of which are very clean but not posh (which is fine by us). Washing up facilities would be great to see, would definitely come back.

Stayed for 2 nights at this great site as we wanted to walk the Howdenshire Rail Trail which runs through the site. It is a large flat site that is spilt into 3 areas in two fields. There is a lot of room to spread out, which isn't always the case on some sites. The main field has an area by the greenhouses where EHUs are available. If you don't need EHUs, you can chose your own pitch anywhere in the field. There is another fantastic field on the other side of the railway trail that is used during busy periods. This area wasn't open for camping when we visited and was used by children on the campsite for playing ball games. If you have little ones, you may want to pitch near the toilets/showers which are well maintained. This site is great for dogs as there are loads of walks in the area where they can be off the lead. Our dog loved it and snored very loudly at night! Holme on Spalding Moor is a short walk away from the site. There is a great chippy which is open lunchtimes and until 8.30 at night. There are some shops, a butcher, cafe and a couple of pubs that serve food. There is a general store which is quite expensive and has a limited range. There are shops/pubs/ supermarket in Market Weighton and Pocklington which are both nearby. There is a great Italian restaurant (Pane E Vino) in Pocklington, if you don't fancy cooking. If you fancy doing something different, canal trips are available on Sundays at Melbourne which is a short drive away. The canal is located behind the Melbourne Arms pub. The trips are organised by The Pocklington Canal society (a local charity) and do not need to be pre-booked. There is no set charge for the trips, they ask for a donation which goes towards the costs of the upkeep of the boat. This is a great site at a bargain price of £8 per night for 2 adults and a dog (without EHU). We will definitely return to this site
