There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.

Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club Site. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.

This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual shower rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off-site, there are two large enclosed dog walks on site.

Tavistock, 2 ½ miles from the site, has world heritage status. It is a picturesque and ancient Stannary and market town with the beautiful River Tavy running through its centre. Whether you enjoy lovely cafes and shops or grand architecture and historical abbey ruins, it is well worth a visit.

Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hills and wooded valleys. The National Cycle Route number 27 (coast to coast Ilfracombe to Plymouth) passes 200 yards from the site.

A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.

The beautiful village of Sheepstor south-east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Wow is all I can really say.

This review is for Tavistock

Wow is all I can really say. This was my first trip away on my own with my son in my mums motorhome in which I borrowed. I had been a little nervous previous to arriving but once on site it was amazing. Everything was sign posted on site so I knew exactly what to do and where to go. Greeted by a lovely lady and gentleman whom delivered all the information I would need during my stay efficiently without being rushed. They had taken into account that I was on my own with my son and so provided a level pitch so I would not need to use chocks. I had also requested to be close to the shower block which they took into account also. I was then led to my pitch and helped to position my motorhome. Explanation of hook ups and if we needed anything to call and then we were left to settle in. The site had been very well thought out with a dog field and a dog walk on site which was handy as I took my mums small dog with us. All areas including the dog areas had been kept to a very high standard and were clean at all times. Shower block, washing area and even chemical toilet disposal had been very well looked after and cleaned regularly. During my stay I asked for help in finding my way to a walk for my 5 year old son, myself and the small pooch. The owners were very helpful and we ended up having the absolute time of our lives. We have enjoyed it so much that as soon as I finish this review in which I hope explains how seriously fond of the site we are, I am booking in for this weekend! 5 star and will definitely be our new favourite holiday so my son calls it. Eventhough its only over an hour away!

Lovely site with en suite facilities and great aspect.

This review is for Tavistock

Lovely site with en suite facilities and great aspect. Water is from borehole so flow a bit slow ...no problem at all. Entrance is a sharp tourney off the road which turns up suddenly and the office is not obvious. Exit is not the entrance, which confused us not having been briefed.a site map would help. We really liked this site tho and were made very welcome. Would def return!

This was our second visit to Tavistock.

This review is for Tavistock

This was our second visit to Tavistock. It is an excellent site in an ideal situation for many activities, especially exploring Dartmoor, the staff a friendly, helpful and keep the site beautiful. The toilet blocks are excellent especially the cubicles with all three facilities in one. Unfortunately they are badly let down by the appalling water supply which often turns into a dribble part way through a shower. this problem could easily be corrected by installing a pumpset to the private supply from the borehole/header tank. Don't let this put you off but appeal to the club to correct the problem.
