This site is a triangular field beside the farmyard and is just big enough for five units. Not manicured, but a farm field with EHU (you may need a long lead or borrow one from the farmer), water and a CDP, overlooking the tidal Esk estuary with splendid views of the hills inland (when they have no cloud cover). The nearby railway line only runs occasional trains between breakfast and bedtime and the shooting range only tests artillery (so half a dozen "wumps" each weekday morning). The owners are friendly and helpful and the site has easy access to coastal, lake and hill attractions. Bacon, sausages and other meat from the village butcher is a must, and the shop is a delight, straight out of the 1950s. We used our own shower and toilet so cannot comment on those provided at the farmhouse, but others on site had no complaints.

A brilliant, well run, welcoming site with fantastic views! We all enjoyed every moment of our stay at Newbiggin Farm. The welcome was warm from the family and the site was so peaceful. Being an outdoors family we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying on the farm, sampling the eggs and Colin and his dad Bill even allowed us to watch the cows being brought in and milked which was a fantastic treat for our 20 month old son! Nothing was too much trouble for the family, who provided us with a selection of leaflets about local attractions when we arrived. The showers and toilets are located within the farm buildings which are back out of the field and a short walk along the quiet road, however, as the site is so small, this walk is a lot less than you can sometimes encounter on a bigger site! All in all, a fantastic site and we have already booked for our next visit!

Great secluded campsite We stayed at this site in August 2017 for one night after walking up Scafell Pike. The location was perfect being a few miles from Wast Dale and locate down a secluded quiet lane. Sited close to the coast the site has great views and is very quiet, a quick drive back to Ravensglass for an evening meal was an easy option. The site has small basic but perfectly adequate wc and shower block (showers use 20p for 3mins) and the site is level with enough room for the 5 tents and 2 caravans that were there on the night we stayed. The owner was very friendly and we will definitely be returning for another stay.

A brilliant site to get away from it all, facilities basic but sound.

A brilliant site to get away from it all, facilities basic but sound. Just what you need from a CS site. Warm and friendly welcome. Mr Walker was friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. A great little farm site with stunning views and easy access to the Western Lakes (the best bit) facilities are basic but thats what we like. Showers were a bonus and unexpected. I would certainly recommend it as a place to stay with tent or caravan off the tourist track but with plenty of places to visit nearby. I will certainly be using this site again (even if its only for the interesting chats with Mr Walker!)
