    Top site for fishing

A rural campsite near the city of the Norfolk Broads.

A city campsite with a rural feel describes our Norwich Club campsite. It commands a beautiful spot next to a river with walks and fishing along the banks. Its back-to-nature feel is enhanced by a small holding with chickens and geese right next door.

It’s a fairly secluded and quiet campsite and well laid out with 50 grass pitches and well maintained facilities.

This campsite is in easy reach of the city of Norwich by bike, a lovely walk along the old railway line or by bus which stops a quarter of a mile from the site. Norwich is famed for its castle and cathedral and it has more medieval churches than any other city in Western Europe. Four large malls will satisfy the fussiest shopper and there are numerous places to eat and drink.

There are walking and cycling opportunities in Whitlingham Country Park, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite. And, as well as being a haven for wildlife, there’s also a watersports centre offering windsurfing, sailing and kayaking.

The Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland, is within easy reach of the campsite and is home to some of the country’s rarest plants and wildlife.

Worth Noting

Access to riverbank fishing available from 15th June to site closing date. The river can get very weedy in summer months. Site is close to the mainline railway so there may be some train noise.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a farmers’ market in Gentlemans Walk in Norwich city centre on the first and third Sundays of the month.

We are sure this site is great if you have a caravan with electric and its on facilities.

This review is for Norwich

We are sure this site is great if you have a caravan with electric and its on facilities. If you are camping with no electric and require the sites toilets etc, I would definitely avoid. Informed on the phone that the tent field doesnt allow cars next to the tent, but you can park up and then unload before moving your car- this implied we could park our car next to our tent for a very short period of time whilst we unloaded...not true! You have to park your car 100m away, carry all your things (including heavy tent) through a gate and down a park. Not suitable if you cant walk easily, and definitely not for myself being 7 months pregnant! Only one facility block, about 200m from the tent field which was, as others have mentioned, severely outdated and not a high standard of cleanliness, with only 2 hours (one being a tiny one). The site managers simply waved us off to the pitch and then left, no friendly chat or advice etc. We camp every single weekend at different C&C clubs and will certainly not be returning here, which is a shame as its a great location, but they should make it abundantly clear when booking that the tent field is not suitable if you cannot manage to carry all your things 100m.

Just stayed a week on this very friendly, secluded beautiful campsite close to the city center of Norwich. Great staff, always willing to help. Toiletblock may be just a bit older, but kept absolutely spotless. Lots of trees give the idea of a park. (Dog)walk leading to river brings you into a magical world away from it all. Town center is a 25/30 minute walk, but there is also a bus connection (3,50 return). I very much enjoyed my week at this campsite and would love to visit again.

A small secluded site in outskirts of city, next to allotments.

This review is for Norwich

A small secluded site in outskirts of city, next to allotments. Wardens/managers greeted us by name as we arrived. All wardens very friendly and helpful. Nice but short walk through woods and by river. Facilities a tad dated but very clean. Local bus into city centre close by. Interesting city with lots of things to see although the castle isn't a castle. loads of places to eat.
