    Top site for fishing

The Cotswolds within easy driving distance.

You’ll find our pretty Winchcombe Club campsite in the heart of the Cotswolds. Its location near the village of Alderton makes this campsite the perfect base for exploring the area’s pretty honey-colour limestone towns and villages. It’s great walking country too. For starters there’s the Winchcombe way. This 42-mile, figure-of-eight trail runs adjacent to the campsite.

Winchcombe is a charming, quiet little site with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Bag yourself a pool-side pitch and enjoy a prime fishing spot.

The site has excellent toilet and shower facilities, a games room and dog walk. And the site shop stocks a variety of local produce from nearby farms, dairies, butchers and bakers.

The attractive town of Winchcombe is a short drive from the site. It has Walkers are Welcome status and a tempting variety of top restaurants, pubs and tea shops. Further afield Cheltenham with its elegant Regency houses, award-wining gardens and stylish shops is worth visiting.

If you'd like to go glamping then Winchcombe Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is also available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

The Winchcombe Way Footpath is adjacent to the site and guidebooks are available at reception. Lodges are available to hire.

Stayed for 4 nights in October for a bit of fishing, I was expecting the site to be fairly quiet at this time of year but it was still very busy, sign of the times as more members with motorhomes are using them all year I guess. Staff were very friendly and not dictatorial as to what you can or can't do, unlike some wardens on other sites. Facilities were kept immaculately clean with toilets that actually flush properly! I was saddened to read from a previous reviewer about the flooded lake and a lose of fish stocks...However, the lake has recovered extremely well. I am not a carp fisherman so didn't try fishing for them, but the Roach, Rudd and Perch fishing was superb with fish running to around the 1lb mark, with the odd 1.5lb Rudd showing. To update the previous reviewer, there is now NO fee to fish the lake which is a real bonus. Lets hope the lake isn't re-stocked with Carp. Please keep the fishing free as were not all Carp fisherman. Thanks to all staff for a very pleasant stay. Off to Hereford now!

This is one of the friendliest sites that we go to.

This review is for Winchcombe

This is one of the friendliest sites that we go to. The access is very easy, straight off main road. Greeting from staff is first class. We have been to this site a few times and always a nice welcome. We where shown a few options for our van and left to choose which one. Plenty of space around our pitch with views of lake and hills..perfect! The toilets and showers where clean with loads of hot water. We could only stay for 2 nights unfortunately we always make time to visit Tewksbury and the Jellyroll caf. If you are on site at w/ends there is a fish & chip van on Fridays 6.30pm. There is a recreation hall with skittles, puzzles, games and Tv with a cosy sofa and chairs..very nice! I am sure we will be back very soon.

This site is by far the best that I have been on.

This review is for Winchcombe

This site is by far the best that I have been on. All of the staff were really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The site was the best that I have been on, a lovely lake to view and fish in if you like fishing. every pitch that I saw was level and well maintained with plenty of space between units. A big open field to allow your dog lose to run about in. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean. The site is also situated perfectly for visiting around the Cotswolds. What more Can you ask for.

Friendly helpful staff. Well kept site. Spotless wash block.

Friendly helpful staff. Well kept site. Spotless wash block. Good base for cycling into Tewkesbury and Cheltenham, although I had to negotiate a short distance on the busy main road, before turning into the country lanes. Pretty fishing lake on this site. I would return to this site.
