A wonderfully secluded campsite hidden in the Welsh hills.

Rhandirmwyn (pronounced ran-dee-mo-n) Club campsite lies just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park. The name means ‘Valley of the minerals’ and is a lead mining area in the Towy Valley.

The campsite is situated in the middle of the valley and the lively River Towy run alongside it. The campsite is spacious and well set out with excellent facilities. Surrounded by hills and trees it’s ideal for families or individuals interested in walking, cycling or just relaxing.

There are many beautiful hill and river walks within easy reach of this campsite. The Cambrian Way passes through the edge of the site. The circular all-ability access trail in Cwmrhaeadr Forest, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite is perfect for cyclists. There are two nice pubs in the village, your reward for completing the steep climb up to them!

Head south from the campsite to the Usk reservoir in the National Park. An eight-mile trail wends its way around the shore. Fishing is available here too. The nearby Glasfyndd Forest also has great walking and cycling tracks.

Llyn Brianne reservoir is also worth a visit. The road around the reservoir has some breathtaking views. Also visit the subterreanean world of the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. As well as the caves you can visit the dinosaur park, shire horse centre and the Iron Age village. The 13th century hillside Carreg Cenne Castle is south of the campsite near the village of Trapp.

Don’t miss a visit to the RSPB Dinas Nature Reserve where you can spot red kites. You can see more red kites as well as ravens and buzzards at Gigrin Farm Bird reserve in the market town of Rhayader.

A lovely peaceful site with excellent walking nearby and red kites overhead.

A lovely peaceful site with excellent walking nearby and red kites overhead. We were there just before the school holidays and the site was half empty. A couple of good local pubs for food but check first as they are not open all week (can't remember which one was closed on which day). Friendly helpful staff.

Wonderful 6 days spent at Rhandirmwyn. Barry, Wendy ,Allan & Julie were so friendly and helpful in every way .Nothing was too much trouble. Such a pretty site, everything well attended. With lovely walks straight from the campsite. Met lots of nice campers. The wild life around the site is amazing .A stroll to The Royal Oak is highly recommended to finish off the day. Thank you for a great holiday. Ann & Tony ( Bournemouth )

Unbooked arrival but welcomed which was nice. Very friendly staff. Very clean facilities. Absolutely fantastic site in an especially peaceful very rural area. A drive of about 7 miles from the nearest town to get there but well worth it. There is a shop on site too. Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.

“Yet another fabulous weeks holiday at this superb site. Friendly welcome from the wardens who maintain the site to a remarkable standard. The scenery is absolutely stunning and there are some fabulous walks along the river Towy in both directions as well as some more strenuous ones. Can highly recommend this site for anybody who appreciates nature and beautiful scenery. We will definitely be returning.”
